People living in San Lorenzo Ruiz
Resettlement Area were former residents of San Juan. Some had applied, others
were given the chance to be relocated in the site to own a small portion of land
ranging from 45sqm, 70sqm, 77sqm and 85sqm aside from the tenement houses. They
were given entry passes as proofs of their ownership, apart from the requirement to
pay an annual tax declaration.

Currently, the population in the area is
approximately 89,165. For every five years, the population is said to double its
size. This increase is due to factors such as migration and the increasing
birthrate. Table 1 below shows the population on the site from 1985 to 2000 and
the increase in its number every after five years.
