Here are some of the issues and concerns faced by the people and the whole resettlement area as well:

     LACK OF POTABLE DRINKING WATER

Water in San Lorenzo Ruiz resettlement comes from deep well sources, and can only be used for cleaning or washing purposes,  but not for drinking. People rely on potable water from some water stores or from deliveries of NAWASA in containers. However, most of the families living in the area cannot afford to buy drinking water because of  their very low income, that is enough only to buy their everyday meals. This is the reason why most of them use deep well water for cooking and drinking though it is not safe for such purposes.

     INSUFFICIENT SUPPLIES OF BOOKS

Star of Hope Christian School, the school in the area, is facing the problem of inadequate supplies of books for all of its students. Although the Department of Education Culture and Sports supplies the school some text books, the availability of reading materials is still not enough for all. Most of the time a student shares text books with his/her classmate or it can also happen that he/she can use no reading material at all.

     FLOOD

There are times that San Lorenzo Ruiz Resettlement Area becomes flooded especially during the rainy season when the rain is falling hard. Some residents say that it is due to the poor drainage system that they have. Other say that it is because of the water from the Floodway which when opened, pours directly in the area making it submerged in the water. One of the most recent of such case was two years ago when the flood was knee-high (and to some other parts of the site even higher) that made people use boats when going to another place. The said flood lasted three days up to a week in some places inside the Site. After that, sicknesses became inevitable to people, particularly to the children in the area

     LACK OF POPULATION EDUCATION

The population in the area is considered as young because of the big number of children concentrated in it. And the population is said to almost double its size for the span of every five years.

Currently, there is no effort undertaken by the government, particularly the Department of Health or any agency, that can educate people on family planning.
