Isobel
has been diagnosed with mild Cerebral Palsy and
Sensory Integration Disorder. Even with the challenges
that she has to face, Isobel is doing so well.
Her progress in the past year has been nothing
short of exceptional.
Isobel
can count to 10, knows the ABC song, has the greatest
sense of humor and faces each day with her voice
lifted in song. She knows the words to nearly
20 songs. She is learning her colors but still
insists on calling everything blue - we are certain
that she is teasing us most of the time.
Currently,
Isobel has therapy 5 times a week. She has developmental
therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapyonce
a week. We are going to be adding speech/oral
motor therapy once a week in March. This will
help us to tackle her feeding issues. In addition,
she attends a special needs
|
preschool
twice a week for 2 1/2 hours per day. She loves
school and she really enjoys being with all of
her friends. Everyone that works with Isobel is
so thrilled with who she is becoming. Our family
is so incredibly thankful for the interventions
that Isobel has received. Without them, she wouldn't
be who she is today.
As we are
approaching Isobel's third birthday (in August),
we are preparing for transitioning from the Early
Intervention system into the world of special
education. Isobel is going to be able to be in
a typical classroom however, she is going to need
some extra help once she goes to school. We are
exploring our options at this time and trying
to decide whether we want to put her in school
at 3 or wait and tackle this issue when she goes
to kindergarten. Check back for updates as we
go through the process.
