Isobel is really doing so
great! She has made such huge strides in the last
six months to a year. We thought it would be helpful
to our friends and families if we posted Isobel's
assessment results here so that everyone can watch
her progress.
The last gross motor assessment
yielded the following results:

Isobel
has difficulty with motor planning and often runs
into things. She has decreased trunk rotation
with poor balance reactions in standing. She has
left side neglect and left-sided weakness which
appears to be improving. She runs but lacks good
reciprocal movements. Isobel is seen to have tactile
defensiveness which is improving. Her strength
is in the area of object manipulation.
She has much scattering of skills throughout
the Peabody Developmental Motor Scales.

Isobel
was also tested by her OT (who works with her
primarily for her Sensory Integration Disorder)
with the Dunn Sensory Profile and the Peabody
Scales for Fine Motor Development. This testing
was done in 2001 so we are nearing the time for
a new assessment. In order for everyone to see
how much she has progressed, we are going to post
the last evaluation. When we get the new one,
we will post those results.
According
to the profile results, Isobel has a variety of
sensory processing problems. She scored within
the definite difference range in vestibular processing,
touch processing, oral sensory processing and
overall sensory sensitivity. She scored within
the probable difficulty range in auditory processing,
modulation related to body position and movement
(possibly due to visual and/or motor involvement),
emotional reactivity, and poor registration.
Most of
Isobel's processing difficulties appear to be
due to over-sensitivity, or defensiveness. These
problems would
