                     SAILOR OBERON: YEAR ONE

PART FOUR: WINDY'S SECRET REVEALED (BY: INVID HELLCAT)

A week later, Janet Avalon's House:

Janet saw herself standing amongst her friends and family. They were

all wearing black and she was wearing a plain white dress. She could

tell that all the people around her were in mourning the only thing

that she wasn't sure of why they were mourning. She could see a casket

in front of her but it was closed. 'O.K. so it's a funeral, but whose?'

She thought to herself. She could tell that people were talking and

crying but she couldn't hear anything. She walked over to the coffin

wondering just who was inside it. Just then a man walked up and slowly

opened it. When Janet saw herself laying inside the casket she

screamed. Janet sat up in her bed still screaming and crying. She had

broken out in a cold sweat, and her body was shaking. A few seconds

later her mom was knocking at her door. "It's unlocked." Janet managed

to say while still trying to get her heavy breathing under control. "We

heard you scream are you all right sweetie?" Janet's mother asked. "I

just had a night terror. I'm fine now." Janet said as she hugged her

mom. Janet's mom just kissed Janet on her forehead. "Well, if you need

anything just let me and your dad know O.K. sweetie." She told Janet as

she walked back to her own room. Janet just nodded her head, she knew

that she wouldn't be able to get back to sleep so she grabbed some

clothes out of her closet and walked to the bathroom to take a shower.

What Janet never told her parents was that she had been having this

same night terror for about the last three years. The only thing that

scared her was how real the dream felt. Lately though she was having

the dream much more often. She had an uneasy feeling in her gut that

something terrible was about to take place. She just hoped that the

dream was something symbolic rather than literal. Janet's biggest fear

was dying. Death was an unknown and that's what frightened Janet so

much. She didn't really like things that she didn't know. "Come on

Janet, snap out of it your 13 you're not going to die anytime soon."

Janet scolded herself as she turned the water on for her shower. She

let the water run over her neck and shoulders. It felt good and

relaxing, she took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Just calm down

girl everything is going to be all right. It's just a stupid dream so

don't worry about it." Janet told herself again then she closed her

eyes and just let the water run over and relax her tensed up body.

Windy's House:

Windy was walking around her bedroom a very strange feeling in the pit

of her stomach. She couldn't help it but she just felt as though

something was wrong with one of her close friends. It didn't feel like

it did when Zephyr or one of her cronies was making a move. Loki

stirred at the sound of Windy sitting down at her desk and opening one

of the drawers. "Windy what's wrong?" The cat asked as he stretched his

front and hind legs. "Don't know I just feel like something is off.

Something just doesn't feel right, but it doesn't feel like it's an

emergency." Windy replied her thoughts were returning to Janet. The

last week had been unusually quiet but there had been a small sense of

foreboding the entire time. Now it just seemed to intensify many times.

Windy heard Loki chuckle, "Don't worry about it kiddo if it doesn't

feel urgent then it probably isn't. I don't need you jumping at your

own shadow." Loki said as he curled back up to go back to sleep. Windy

then walked out of her bedroom to the kitchen. Her mind going over

what Loki had told her. Yes, it wasn't the icy fingers of death making

there down her back just an uneasy feeling. Windy put a cup of water

in the microwave so she could make herself some herbal tea. She

was hoping that the tea would help her get back to sleep. As she put

the waterin she picked up the phone and dialed Janet's personal

phone line. After two rings Janet pick up. "Hello, this is Janet."

The young girl on the other end answered. "Janet it's Windy. Is

everything all right?" Windy asked hoping that Loki was right and she

was just jumping at her own shadow. Janet replied that everything was

O.K. and that she was just woken up by a nightmare. Windy breathed a

sigh of relief. The two talked for about half an hour before hanging

up and telling each other that they will see the each other at school

that morning. After Windy had finished her tea, she went back to her

bedroom and crawled back into bed. Despite all of Janet's words of

encouragement Windy still had a sense that something was amiss but

she just couldn't put her finger on what it was. She decided that

it could wait until morning whatever it was.

The Majere Home:

Joe Majere was sitting on his bed grinning from ear to ear. After, a

week of planning, a week of waiting today was the day that he would

strike. He would do it first thing in the morning before the first bell

would ring he would have his revenge. He couldn't wait to see the look

of horror on Windy's face as she lost that which is most valued to her,

and knowing that she was completely powerless to stop it. All this time

waiting and wondering how he could even the score. Watching Windy as

she grew better and better at what she did while he had to hide in the

shadows of shame. Now it would be her would be shamed and he would

recapture that which was rightfully his to begin with. After doing

this people would once again have no choice but to respect him. Today

was going to be one of the single greatest days of Joe Majere's life,

and he owed it all to Zephyr who gave him the tools of his revenge.

Queen Elizabeth I Jr. High School:

Joe Majere was waiting for his victim to arrive from studying his prey

he found that she kept pretty much to the same habit every day. She and

Windy would sit under the pine tree and wait for school to start. They

would usually talk about whatever they felt like, or sometimes finish

up some last minute homework. Joe was looking around trying to see if

he could find Janet. He found her but today she was walking with Windy.

No matter in his true form Windy was no match for him. His goal wasn't

to kill Windy but he was going to make her suffer. Windy wouldn't die

today but Janet would. The two friends were making their way to the

pine tree when Windy all of a sudden tensed up. The icy touch of death

was back, and slowly making its way down her spine. Combined with her

uneasy feeling last night Windy was now more certain than ever that

something evil was about to happen. Her first thought was that somehow

Zephyr had figured out that Windy Hayes and Sailor Oberon were one and

the same, but then she had a second and more terrifying thought. 'Oh my

lord Janet is the target.' Windy had the feeling because of her feeling

last night, and the fact that Janet had told Windy about her night

terror last night. Granted that Windy didn't have all of the details

of her best friend's dream but just the fact she had one made Windy

suspect. Janet felt Windy's grip on her hand tighten. "What's wrong

Windy?" Janet asked. "It's...I don't know babe I just have a strange

feeling." She replied silently adding 'about you.' Janet squeezed

Windy's hand reassuringly, and told her not to worry so much. Windy

drew Janet into a big hug. "I love you too much to not, not worry about

you." Windy replied a little playfulness in her voice as she tried to

break her own tension. Janet giggled and kissed Windy on the forehead.

"I love you too, little flirt." Janet said as she hugged Windy back.

The two friends laughed and then sat down under the pine tree. Joe was

watching from his hiding place. "Good little dykes, so predicable." He

whispered to himself. "I hope you too enjoy your last few seconds

together." He continued madness now entering his voice. Windy's body

tensed up even more the big problem she had was she couldn't transform

until Zephyr or her Youma had made it's move and then only after she

was out of ear shot and out of sight of all of the teachers and

students. Being she was at school it was going to be difficult enough

to do what needed to be done as it was without raising suspicion. A few

seconds later the two girls heard an explosion and some of their

schoolmates yelling and screaming. "What the hell that bench just blew

up!" They heard one boy shout. Windy clenched her teeth and silently

uttered multiple curses all aimed at Zephyr. Janet looked on in stunned

disbelief, Windy looked at the scene before her in a rage. Then one of

the most evil sounding laughs Windy had ever heard filled the air.

"Janet Avalon, now that I have your attention I sincerely hope that you

can enjoy the last few minutes of your life." The voice said as

continued to laugh. To Windy the voice sounded familiar but yet

unfamiliar. "Who are you? What do want do want with me?" Janet said

fear and confusion in her voice. The unseen voice replied simply that

he wanted to kill her, and make Windy suffer like he had suffered.

Windy clenched her teeth and tensed her whole body. "Damn you son of

a... Joe Majere show your sorry ass before I find it!" Windy shouted

as loud as she was able to. "Well, the dyke figured it out

congratulations but I'm not exactly what you think I am any more my

dear Windy." Just as Joe had finished speaking a black oval shaped void

appeared about ten feet of so in front of Windy and Janet. And, then

the most hideous looking thing either girl had ever seen stepped out.

A creature resembling an almost eight foot tall rusty red skeleton with

jet black hair and glowing reddish-orange globes for eyes, and a

strange red-orange oval like sphere for a mouth. "Joe Majere no longer

exists I am now Xombor." The creature spoke in an even sounding voice.

Janet nearly fainted when she saw the creature but, as it was she wet

herself. Windy grabbed her horrified friend and roughly pulled her arm

the shock from having her arm yanked on was enough to pull the girl out

of her fear induced stupor. Seconds later a small explosion erupted

where the two girls had stood. "You can't out run me Janet will die."

Xombor said as he started after the two girls. Windy and Janet

continued to run away. Windy knew that she had to get as far away from

the school as she could to reduce the number of innocent bystanders.

"Windy that monster is too fast we'll never out run it, and there's

nowhere to hide." Janet said sounding defeated. "No, I'm not going to

let you die. I'll find some way to save you." Windy replied as the two

kept running.

Zephyr's Base:

Zephyr was beginning to get impatient. She knew that General Pyrite's

Youma had some personal business to take care of but she didn't know

that when she told him to accomplish his mission at his own convenience

he was going take this long. She hadn't seen or heard anything from

Xombor in a week. She had a mission to fulfill and from what she was

hearing her beloved General Jedeite was running into some major

problems with three Sailor Senshi over in Japan. So, now her mission

here was all the more important. She couldn't afford for her

subordinates to lollygag around doing nothing of value. She made her

decision to find where Xombor was and what he was doing. She needed

Sailor Oberon dead to be successful in her energy-gathering mission.

She was in no mood for excuses if Xombor couldn't or wouldn't get the

job done she would just have to send him back to General Pyrite. She

told her Youma what she was doing and teleported away from her base to

begin her search.

Winston Churchill Memorial City Park:

Windy and Janet had taken cover in the park's restroom. Windy had

hoped that the Youma would continue on overlooking their hiding spot.

"It's gonna take the Army to stop that thing." Janet whispered fear

still ruling her voice. Windy remained silent just holding her friend

and gently rocking her back and forth. "I'm not going to let you die."

Windy finally replied. Her voice was full of determination and anger.

"Windy?" Janet asked as looked her best friend in the eyes. "Oh my

lord, I can see it. I don't know how but some how you've got the power

to stop that thing." Janet said as she tightened her embrace. "Yes, yes

I do, I hope, but I couldn't let you know I was afraid that if I

transformed in front of you then you'd be in more danger than you are

now. I can't loose you Janet. I already lost my father when he walked

out on us. I just don't know what I'd do if I lost you too." Windy said

as tears stung her eyes. Janet wiped away a few tears that fell down

Windy's cheeks. "I know you'll protect me. I love you Windy. Now go

and put a stop to this madness before somebody really gets hurt." Janet

told the red head clinging to her for dear life. "I will, and I love

you too Janet." Windy replied as she gently kissed Janet's cheek and

then took her transformation stick out of her pocket. "Oberon Power,

Makeup!" She shouted her transformation phrase. Janet had to flinch at

the bright light and heat of the magma that accompanied her best

friend's change. Janet stood dumbfounded for several moments. "Amazing

how long have you been holding this back on me?" Janet asked in her

demanding voice. "A little over a week now stay put." Sailor Oberon

replied as she quickly darted out the door to face down this newest

threat. Windy jumped up into a tree and saw that Xombor was still

searching the park. He was on the opposite side from her. "This makes

things a little easier." Oberon thought to herself aloud. She quickly

jumped to another tree. When she figured that she was close enough she

jumped down to the ground. "Xombor if you want to pick on somebody pick

on me!" She shouted at the Youma. "Who the hell are you?" Xombor

replied as he shot a black energy blast towards the Senshi. "I am

Sailor Oberon and on behalf of the House of Uranus I shall defeat you."

Sailor Oberon warned as she took up a defensive posture. "So, you must

be the Senshi that Zephyr told me about. Good so I can accomplish

business and pleasure at the same time. My lady Zephyr wants your head.

I'll kill you and then get that little dyke. Two birds with one stone

as you humans would say." Xombor replied as its eyes glowed twice as

bright as normal. "Bring it on I'm not such an easy kill bone boy."

Oberon retorted. Xombor sent another blast of energy towards Oberon who

dodge it easily. "Magma Shot!" A stream of magma shot out of Windy's

left hand, which was closed into a half fist. Xombor dodged the attack

with amazing speed for a creature of its size. The attack hit a tree

and knocked it to the ground and set the rest of it ablaze. "Not bad

but not good enough." Xombor laughed. The two combatants locked eyes.

Neither one willing to make a move lest that move be a mistake. They

were too evenly matched the winner would be the first one to err. "I

see you're quite powerful, but are you powerful enough?" Xombor

challenged. "I've got enough power to defeat anything evil." Windy

retorted. Somehow she knew that the Youma was trying psychological

warfare. "If you doubt yourself you die." Somewhere Windy remembered

those words being spoken to her. She couldn't let this thing get under

her skin. She had to protect Janet this thing wanted Janet dead. "So,

did Zephyr put you up to killing that girl that you're terrorizing?"

Windy asked still her gaze firmly locked on Xombor's. "Oh no, that's a

personal matter my 'human half' wants her dead for some reason of

revenge. For a human he's got a very devious mind. He almost reminds me

of my master General Pyrite." Xombor answered almost sounding like he

was proud of the plans that Joe had made to murder Windy's best friend.

The tension between the two combatants was almost a physical force.

The spectators who had gathered were watching in stunned awe of the

two. Even the police didn't move. Nobody had any idea what they were

witnessing, but it seemed to all that one of the two was a creature of

evil and the other of good. Unnoticed to all on the ground a woman

hovered just above the tree line. 'Well, looks like my pet has found

the Senshi. Now all he needs to do is kill her.' Zephyr thought to

herself as she watched the battle unfold below her. The two continued

to exchange banter. Each trying to lure the other into making a stupid

move. Finally Sailor Oberon had, had enough she leapt at Xombor with a

flying spin kick. The Creature blocked the kick with ease. "You'll

have to do better than that little girl." Xombor warned as he threw a

haymaker punch at Oberon. She dodged it, but the blow destroyed a near

by bench. "Same goes for you bag-o-bones." Windy replied using insults

to try and make the creature act in anger. "Your enemy's anger is your

best weapon. Anger makes one act stupidly. Then capitalize on the

mistakes" More words from the past. The battle continued kicks and

punches thrown. Kicks and punches blocked and dodged. The insulting

banter didn't stop either. Yes, it was true the first one to err would

be the loser. By this time the police had basically let themselves

become crowd control. Keeping civilians as far away from the fighting

as possible. Somehow they instinctively knew that there was nothing

they could do other than keep unneeded injuries to a minimum. Somehow

everybody who witnessed this battle knew that one girl was the only

hope of avoiding some kind of catastrophe. As the battle drew on Windy

could feel herself tire and it didn't look as though Xombor was any

worse for ware. His attacks were just as clean as they were when they

started while Windy's were growing more sloppy and slow. She wasn't

able to dodge as easy as before and her blocks were slower and hurt

more. There was no doubt about it she was now fighting an uphill battle

she had to find a way to put Xombor down fast or else she was as good

as dead. She got an idea it was a desperate try she was going for

broke. If this didn't work she just knew that the fight was over and

she would lose. Sailor Oberon took in a very deep breath and let it out

very quickly. She went for a flying kick she put everything she had

into this attack. When Xombor went for the block Oberon adjust in mid

air. She clenched her left hand into a half fist. "Magma Shot!" She

commanded her attack to life. The stream of Magma shot of her palm and

this time found it's mark. The attack stunned the skeletal creature and

then Windy's flying kick connected with the middle of the creature's

rib cage. Between the magma attack and the kick Xombor found himself

flat on the ground pain in both his arm and his chest. "I told you on

behalf of the House of Uranus in the name of moon of Oberon I will kill

you." Sailor Oberon said one more time as she stood over her fallen foe

she was breathing heavy but she stood ready to deliver another magma

attack that was until a black oval shaped void appeared. "Xombor

withdraw now." She heard Zephyr's voice say from within the void.

"Another day Senshi. Next time you'll not be so lucky." Xombor said as

he disappeared into the void. Sailor Oberon fell to her knees

exhausted. She wiped some sweat off her brow and let out a long slow

sigh. "It's over I've won. For now." Sailor Oberon said to herself as

she then noticed all of the people that had gathered around her for the

first time. She slowly made her way to her feet and then leapt into the

air before anybody had the chance to get close to her. She landed near

the restroom that she had left Janet in. Seeing nobody around she

walked back in and found Janet sitting on the floor crying and calling

her name. "Janet are you all right?" Windy asked as she changed back

to her normal self. Janet at hearing Windy's voice jumped up and into

the red head's waiting arms. "I was so worried about you. I was afraid

that you wouldn't come back." Janet sobbed as she buried her face into

Windy's chest and wrapped her arms around her best friend. "It's ok

babe I'm all right. Everything is all right." Windy soothed as she

rocked her sobbing friend back and forth. Janet turned her eyes so they

met Windy's. "I know this going to sound strange but would you kiss

me?" Janet asked she knew the only reason that she would ever ask such

a question of her best friend is because she needed to be sure that

everything she was being told was true. Windy just nodded and smiled.

She then gently pressed her lips against Janet's in a very tender kiss.

The two girls hugged each other tightly one more time. "Come on babe

let's get you home." Windy said as she led her friend towards her

house. Fortunately nobody paid them any mind as they made their way

through the park.

Janet's House:

Windy and Janet were sitting in Janet's bedroom talking about what had

happened. Janet still couldn't believe her ears nor her eyes. Her best

friend was an honest to goodness super heroine. Janet did look somewhat

hurt that Windy had not told her sooner. "I'm sorry but I was told that

I couldn't tell you. I was told if I did that you'd be great danger and

that enemies would be able to use you against me. I couldn't let that

happen." Windy said as she put her face in hands and started to cry.

Janet gently put her hand on Windy's shoulder. "It's ok I understand,

especially after today." Janet said as Windy put her hand on top of

Janet's. "You know I can't be always protect you just because I can't

always be around you." Windy told Janet her voice turning deadly

serious. "I know this going to sound clichÈ but even with all the power

you possess you won't be able to save everyone, but as long as you do

your best that's what counts." Janet replied as she hugged Windy

tightly once again. "I know Loki keeps telling me that, and it tears me

apart to know that he's right." Windy said as tears continued down her

cheeks. Janet told Windy to put all of that aside for a little while.

"Let's do something fun just to get both of our minds off this mess."

Janet said as she pulled Windy to her feet. The two girls then headed

out the door and then wherever the moment would take them.

Zephyr's Base:

Zephyr was ferrous she had lost another battle to that damn Senshi.

But, there was something she noticed in the battle Sailor Oberon had

looked worn down. Her last attack was nothing more than shear

desperation. Granted desperation could be a dominating factor in battle

but it could only get one so far, and she remembered Sailor Oberon

mentioning something about another girl that Xombor was trying to kill.

That would be her ace in the hole next time they met. Make her continue

to defend that girl and wear her down then kill her when she had

nothing left to fight with. It was simple at least in theory but in

practice would be another matter completely. But still that girl was

the key.

Joe Majere's House:

Joe was livid after all his planning he wasn't able to accomplish what

he wanted to do. He had failed. Somehow Windy was always able to get

the best of him, but what was really eating at him was where did that

Senshi come from? Windy and Janet were alone. "Wait a minute could it

be that one of those girls is Sailor Oberon?" Joe said to himself. It

was the only answer that made sense either Windy or Janet was Oberon.

'Oh well so much for my plans I wanted Windy to live so she could see

those whom she loved most lost to her but looks like I'm going to have

to kill her anyways that is if she is Sailor Oberon.' Joe thought to

himself. Joe then decided to head out to some of the girls' known hang

out spots. Hoping that he'd see them there and settle this once and

for all. "Business and pleasure what a combo." Joe said as he walked

out the door.

Elsewhere in Toronto:

Janet and Windy were just walking around town doing everything they

could think of to keep their minds off of what had happened earlier.

They came to a vacant lot that the two of them along with Pam and

Justin like to loiter around in. There was an abundance of trees and

other growth in the lot so it gave a natural covering from the rest of

the area around it. The two friends went to their usual spot a small

clearing about the middle of the lot. But when they got there they

found two people already there they didn't recognize them but one was

a woman and the other was a boy that looked to be about their age.

"Sean you've improved greatly. I must say I'm impressed." The woman

said as the boy bowed. They were each wearing a white Karate Gi. "Thank

you Kammie-sensei." Sean replied, as he suddenly looked tense. "I

believe that we have company." Sean continued as he looked in the

general direction of Windy and Janet. Kammie also looked then closed

her eyes. "Yes, we do two girls about your age. Don't worry young ones

we will not hurt you." Kammie said as she motioned for Windy and Janet

to come out. The two girls did so tentatively. "Hello, I'm Windy and

this is my friend Janet." Windy introduced. "I am Kammie Waylan and

this is my adopted son Sean Hunter." Kammie responded as both her and

Sean bowed slightly. A minor conversation was carried on mostly Windy

and Janet expressing their surprise at anyone else being there. Kammie

explained that she owned the land but she never bothered to develop it

since she likes to use it for training and meditation. The four just

sat and talked for a while not anything major just idle chatter. After

the morning that Windy and Janet had idle chatter was very much

welcome. After nearly a half hour of talking Sean had a far away look

in his eyes. "I sense that one of you has a great destiny to fulfill

you hold much power, but be careful power tends to corrupt." Sean said,

as he seemed to come back to reality. Janet and Windy exchanged knowing

glances. "How could know something like that?" Janet asked puzzled. "Me

and Sean have what many would call physic powers. We can see things

other can't and sometimes that includes glimpses of the future." Kammie

told the two girls. Both Windy and Janet seemed amazed by this. "Evil

is on the move we need to watch our step." Kammie said as Windy once

again felt the icy touch of death. She also felt something familiar

emanating from Sean. She wasn't quite sure what it was but it like she

knew him from somewhere or maybe a more accurate way to put it would

be from somewhen. "Yes, sensei I feel it too." Sean stated as he took

out one of his spirit wards preparing for the evil he felt approaching.

All eyes turned skyward and they saw it. Flying just above the treetops

it looked like normal human only with wings, and sea green skin and

hair. It seemed to have spotted the group and it dove in for an attack.

Sean uttered some words that Windy and Janet couldn't understand and

the paper in his hand went straight and stiff and started to glow

softly. He then threw it at the creature but somehow the creature

dodged it. The creature landed on the ground and uttered a simple

phrase. "Xombor I've found them, but there are two others with them."

Then he raised his hand and shot out a black bolt of energy. Windy was

able to push Janet out of the way in time. But, Windy knew that unless

she could find some way to transform all four of them were as good

as dead.
