SAILOR OBERON: YEAR ONE
PART THREE: WINDY'S AVERAGE DAY (BY: INVID HELLCAT)
Queen Elizabeth I Jr. High School: Janet sat underneath a familiar pine tree. "Where is that girl?" She mumbled under her breath. Janet wondered just what was holding Windy up. 'I hope she's not sick.' Janet thought to herself. Windy wasn't late for school yet but she was usually here by now. In the time that Janet had known Windy she had known her for being right on time if not early for almost everything. As she sat musing over where Windy is a blond haired boy walked up to Janet. He had his ever-present scowl on his face. "What's the matter Janet your girlfriend stand you up this morning?" He laughed mockingly. "Go to hell Joe, and do the devil a favor before you get there and get a life." Janet retorted furiously. In Janet's mind Joe Majere was the school idiot. He was by far the most disliked person in the entire school that was mostly because Joe never gave anybody a reason to like to him. He was definitely an egotist. He really thought that he was, to quote the old saying, "God's gift to the Earth." He also carried a grudge against Windy. Back when they were in sixth grade Joe had made the claim that he could beat anybody in the school in the 100-meter dash. For the most part he was true to his word. That was until Windy decided that she had heard enough of his pompousness and challenged him to a race. When the race was over Windy had beaten Joe by nearly two and half seconds. Of course in his pride and attempting not to loose face he claimed that he had let Windy win just to be nice, but he made the claim that had Windy been a boy he would have beaten her hands down. However the loss in that race had done its damage. Joe's pride had been torn, and what was worse was the teasing that he received at the hands of his peers about being beaten by a girl. The more embarrassing blow came when he challenged Windy to a one-on-one game of basketball. Windy not only beat him at that too but held him to a single basket. After those two defeats Joe became worse he basically became a bully. "Oh listen to little miss lesbo who's just upset because her girlfriend stood her up instead of feeling her up." He continued to laugh as he walked away. Janet flicked him the bird as soon as Joe had turned his back on her. 'What an idiot, makes my skin crawl just having to look at him.' She thought as she sat back down she was still wondering what was keeping Windy. A few minuets passed and then Janet felt something tickle her side and she heard a female voice speak softly behind her. "Miss me?" The voice asked sweetly. "Windy Hayes you scared the daylights out of me you big dope." Janet giggled at being tickled. "Sorry babe, but you just looked so cute and vulnerable sitting there like you were." Windy replied a crooked grin tugging at her lips. "Windy you're the biggest flirt I've ever met." Janet said as she gave her best friend a hug. Windy returned her best friend's embrace. "I know but if you can't flirt with you best friend then who can you flirt with?" Windy giggled. This comment made Janet laugh then her expression turned serious. "I've been waiting here most of the morning. Where in the world have you been?" Janet asked sounding slightly annoyed. "I'm sorry but we had a fuse blow this morning so my alarm clock didn't go off and I got up late." Windy lied. She didn't dare tell Janet that she was at the airport battling some kind of extra dimensional monster. "Windy of all the people I know you're the most horrible liar." Janet said her annoyance more defined. "Windy, you're my best friend you can tell me anything. I can see it your eyes girl something happened. Did you get into a fight with your mom?" Janet asked her harsh annoyance turning into soft concern. She gently took Windy's hands in her own. "Something like that Janet but I really don't feel like talking about it right now o.k." Windy replied as she hugged her friend again. Janet returned the hug. "O.K. we'll talk about this when you're ready to." Janet told her. Just then the warning bell rang letting the students know that they had four minuets before the tardy bell rang to get to their first period classes. The two friends broke their embrace and looked at each other for a moment. "See you second period." Both girls said at once. The second day of school seemed to drag on just like the first day did, or maybe even worse than the first day did since the teachers actually had the students start class work. First period seemed to take half the day in and of itself, second period was a little better as Windy was able to see and talk with Janet before and after class a little. As far as Windy was concerned lunch took too long to get here and was way too short. Windy and Janet did their usual had lunch outside underneath the pine tree. They talked about how the day was going. If they had any plans for after school, and the usual stuff two friends usually talk about when they get some spare moments together. The problems of the morning seemed to be forgotten. That was until a certain blond boy came into view. "Uh-oh it's the bad year blimp." Janet whispered as Joe approached the girls. "Well, well what do have here a couple of little lesbos? Don't stop making out just because I'm here." He said disdain present in his voice. Windy stood up and looked Joe in the eyes. "Joe get out of here before I hurt you!" Windy warned her voice equally filled with revulsion. "Stupid dyke if you were a boy I'd kick your ass now, but I was told never to hit girl, besides it wouldn't be a fair fight anyway." Joe retorted as soon as he finished speaking he felt a hand slap his cheek. "Call me a dyke again Joe and next time I'll hit below the belt!" Windy threatened as she gave Joe a glare that would melt ice. "Just wait Windy when you least expect it you'll regret the day you met me." Joe said as he stormed off rubbing his slapped cheek. "I already do you jerk!" Windy yelled at his retreating form. Janet looked at her friend for a few seconds before saying anything. She knew that Joe could easily get under Windy's skin but she'd never seen her use any kind of physical violence against him before. "Windy calm down that sleaze bag just isn't worth it." Janet said as she stood up and placed her right hand on Windy's left shoulder. Windy placed her hand over Janet's. "I know babe, but he just gets me so angry." She replied as she turned around with tears in her eyes. Janet knew that those tears were tears of anger. "Windy just settle down it's all right. Let it drop." Janet whispered as she embraced her friend. Windy just hugged her friend but remained silent. Windy's thoughts turned to Zephyr who had attacked the mall and the airport. She knew that the anger she felt towards Joe was being fueled by her anger that she felt towards Zephyr. "Janet, I love you." Windy whispered. "I love you too Windy." Janet replied as the bell rang to end lunch. The final few periods of the day were just as slow or maybe even slower than the first ones were. After what seemed to be an entire week instead of just one day school was finally dismissed. Janet and Windy walked each other to the park, as was their habit. They sat down at their usual bench and talked about how the day went for each of them. It didn't take long before Janet became very serious. "Windy what's bothering you? There's just something that isn't right." Janet looked Windy straight in eyes while she spoke. What she saw was Windy's eyes fill with tears, but there seemed to be something more than that but she couldn't tell exactly what it was. Windy dropped her head down and took in a breath. "I'm sorry babe, but I just can't talk about it yet. I will I promise one day." Windy replied as she again embraced her best friend tightly. "Anyway my mom gave me some extra money today so do you want to get an ice cream or something?" Windy asked in attempt to change the subject. Janet at first looked as though she was going to say no wanting answers then and there but she ended up saying yes. The two friends walked together to the ice cream parlor.

Zephyr's Base: Zephyr was nervously pacing around her base. She just couldn't believe what happened. A Senshi, a bloody Sailor Senshi had interfered with her mission. None of the Yoma that she had was strong enough to battle a Sailor Senshi, but what bothered her more was that if one Senshi had been revived then the chances were good that other Senshi had been revived as well. The big question was just how many of the Senshi had been revived. A laugh interrupted Zephyr's musings. It was a laugh that Zephyr knew all too well. "Galena what are you doing here don't you have business on some other planet?" Zephyr asked in a harsh manner. "My, my look who's bitten off more than she can chew. I don't understand why Beryl tolerates you all you've ever been able to do correctly is drool over General Jedeite. Anyways I'm not here to stir up old rivalries I'm here to inform you that one of my husband's operatives is here on the Earth somewhere in this city but he doesn't remember who and what he really is I need you to find him and return him to us." Galena said in more casual tone. Zephyr just glared at the woman for a few seconds before she said anything. "Listen Galena I'm here on Queen Beryl's orders to get energy for Queen Metallia. I'm not here to here to round up one of your lost sheep." Zephyr snapped. The two Dark Kingdom operatives just stood their ground not moving so much as a muscle. The stare down lasted almost five minuets before Galena finally laughed. "Too bad we were going to let you use him to help you to achieve your goals. It's a shame that you would turn down an offer that would give you a Yoma three times stronger than any Yoma that you've got." Galena stated matter of factly. That information made Zephyr's eyes go wide with shock. "Three times stronger." She repeated under her breath. "That would make it almost as powerful as I am." Zephyr said out loud. "I'll do it. Do you have any clue as to where I can find him?" Zephyr asked in a pleading tone. Galena just looked silently at Jedeite's lieutenant then she made a fist and opened her hand again. "This crystal sphere will lead you too him whenever he is near it will start to glow red if it touches him it will turn black." Galena answered as she then disappeared from view. "Yes, this is my chance Beryl will surely make me a general after I find this Yoma and kill that stupid Senshi." Zephyr said as she too disappeared from her base.

Frozen Treats Ice Cream Parlor: Windy and Janet had just sat down to start eating their ice cream when two long time friends of Windy approached them. Pam was a slender, sand-blond, violet eyed, girl that Windy had known for nine years. They had attended the same preschool and they had been friends ever since. Pam was Windy's best friend next to Janet. With Pam was Windy's other long time good friend Justin. Justin has a medium build, black hair, and hazel eyes. Justin was far and away Windy's best male friend. Pam and Justin became inseparable from almost the moment that they had first met. The long standing inside joke between this foursome was that wedding bells could be heard whenever Pam and Justin walked into a room together. "So, when's the wedding you two?" Windy giggled as Pam and Justin sat down. The young couple just laughed. "Maybe I should ask you two the same question." Justin responded a crooked grin on his face. This brought another round of laughter from the four friends. On the outside Windy looked just as happy and carefree as everybody else, but on the inside she was being torn apart by the secret that she was now forced to keep. She wanted to tell her friends about her being Sailor Oberon, but she heeded Loki's advice and remained silent on the issue. But, something in Janet's eyes told Windy that Janet knew something was wrong and she wasn't going to rest until she found out. Windy tried to tell herself that by not saying anything to her friends she wasn't really lying to them, yet her mother's words rang in her head about a lie of omission. 'Come on Hayes snap out of it. Loki is right it's better that they don't know.' Windy chided herself. When Windy came out of her little daze she found herself staring right into a worried set of brown eyes. Janet didn't say anything as to not ruin the moment with her friends but her body langue spoke volumes. After some time had passed Pam and Justin got up to leave to head home. Windy and Janet started to do the same. As the two girls walked Janet turned to Windy taking one of her friend's hands in her own. "Windy, I've never seen you this way before what's bugging you?" Janet asked her brown eyes pleading for answers. "Janet, I want to tell you exactly what's going on but in all honesty I wouldn't even know how begin telling you, but I promise one day I will." Windy replied as she hugged her friend. "O.K. Windy but I'm going to hold you to that promise." Janet replied as she gave her friend a kiss on the cheek. Windy kissed Janet on the cheek and the two friends said their goodbyes.

Joe Majere's Home: To say that Joe was still angry at Windy for slapping him earlier in the day would be a massive understatement. The scene had been playing over and over again in his mind. "That little dyke is going to pay." Joe said through clenched teeth. His thoughts turned to some of the school violence he's heard about from the States. Students bringing guns to school and shooting their classmates and teachers. No, that didn't sound right he had to be less obvious. Windy had injured him so he had to find a way to injure her. Windy had stripped him of his pride, so he had to strip her of something that she valued. Then in one instance of unadulterated evil the thought came to him. Don't go after Windy go after Janet, and then keep going after her friends until she breaks. A cruel smile parted Joe's lips he now knew just how he would get his revenge. The only set back is finding a way to carry it out, but he knew that good things would come to those who wait. It was now only a matter of time.

Zephyr's Base: Zephyr was preparing to go and start her search for the missing Yoma when out of nowhere the crystal sphere started to glow a very bright red. 'Amazing the Yoma is close by.' Zephyr thought as she brought the sphere up to eye level. She could see a faint image in the sphere the image appeared to be a human male. By the looks of him a young human at that Zephyr guessed he could be no more than 15 years of age. She smiled to herself. "Well, my little pet it's time for you and me to get acquainted with one another." Zephyr spoke as she teleported out of her base.

The Majere Home: Joe was in his bedroom still pondering how best to accomplish his revenge when a black oval shaped void appeared in his bedroom. Seconds later a tall woman with bluish-black hair, wearing an orange uniform stepped through it. She was holding some kind of red glowing object that instantly floated towards the surprised teenager. It softly landed on his shoulder and it immediately turned from red to black. The woman smiled a wicked looking smile. "Come to me my pet, you will be the weapon of my victory over that damn pest Sailor Oberon." The woman spoke before Joe could react he found himself being sucked into the void along with the woman. Joe had a feeling in his gut that this woman was the answer he needed to fulfill his quest for revenge against Windy. Joe laughed as he felt that his time was now.

Windy's House: Windy was sitting on her bed her mind wondering just what she should tell Janet. Something in her gut was telling her that Janet knew. But, Windy knew that was impossible Sailor Oberon had only made two public appearances and nobody was conscious when she was there and so far there had been no news reports of any Sailor Oberon sightings. The last news report she had heard was that some of the victims at the mall were beginning to recover, and that the police were looking for the "mystery man" that had called police and fire rescue to the scene. That had brought a chuckle from Windy. She had to laugh when she thought what the police would think about that phone call being made by a cat. Windy laid down in her bed and let out a very loud sigh. This caught Loki's attention. "Something on your mind?" He asked as he was nibbling on some catnip. "Loki I know this is going to sound crazy but I can't shake the feeling that somehow Janet knows. But I also know that there is no possible way that she could know." Windy said as she sat up again. "Windy what do you mean you think she knows? What did you tell her?" The cat asked in an accusatory tone as his color shifted from black to bronze. "I didn't tell her anything, but every time I look in her eyes I get the feeling that she knows." Windy replied on the verge of tears. The now bronze cat breathed a sigh of relief. "It's probably just your imagination running away from you. I wouldn't worry about it too much." Loki said as he started to nibble at his catnip again. Windy took in a deep breath and let out slowly. 'He's probably right, I'm just so uptight about being Sailor Oberon that I'm getting jumpy.' Windy thought to herself as she laid down once again. Windy decided to put all that out of her mind for the time being so she could concentrate on her homework. "Second day of school and already I've got homework to do." Windy grumbled as she sat down at her desk and started to do the math that she hadn't been able to finish in class. Loki's thoughts were on what had happened the previous night and his telepathic probe of Janet's mind. Even though there wasn't enough there to reactivate her, as a Senshi there was something there, and maybe that something gave Janet an insight that she otherwise wouldn't have. But he was almost positive that it was simpler than that it was just the natural concern that one friend has for another. About a half-hour later Windy finished her math homework. Just as soon as she had closed he math book the phone rang. Windy picked up the phone. "Hayes residence." She answered. "Windy? It's Janet, you done with your homework yet?" The other girl asked. "Yeah, I'm just now getting finished what's up babe?" Windy asked casually. "My parents are having a night out on the town so they won't be home till late I was wondering if you'd like to come over to my place for a while." Janet said sounding hopeful. Windy sighed saying that she wasn't sure if she could, but she did add that she would try and that she would call her back in a few minutes.

Janet's House: Windy slowly walked up to the tan house that she been to many times before. She didn't know why she felt so nervous this time. No that was a lie she knew exactly why she felt as nervous as she did. Windy just couldn't escape the feeling that somehow, someway Janet knew what her secret was. Her gut was telling her that she was over reacting, nothing more than jumping at shadows, but her subconscious mind was telling a whole different story. Well, no matter what the truth was Windy decided to put all that aside she was here to have fun and relax with her best friend. Windy rang the doorbell and Janet answered it her face beaming with her usual glowing smile. The two hugged and kissed each other on the cheek. "I'm glad you could make it Windy." Janet said softly. "Yeah, me too babe." Windy replied a smile tugging at her lips. Janet smiled back and said that it was nice to see that Windy was in a better mood. The two friends walked inside the house and sat down. The entire time that Windy was over she was afraid that Janet would ask just what was bothering her. The answer to that question was still churning itself over in Windy's mind. The question never came. The two girls talked about everything that was important to thirteen-year-old girls namely music, movies, clothes, and cute boys. After they had felt like they had talked about everything that they could they decided to watch a movie. Janet had told Windy that while she was in the States that she had bought the newest "Sailor V" movie video release. It hadn't been that long ago that Janet had gotten Windy into Anime, Janet had been into Anime and Manga before it was popular. When Windy found out that the movie that they would be watching would be a "Sailor V" one she just about busted out laughing at the irony of that choice. She was very curious how Janet would react if she knew that she was sitting next to a real life Senshi. 'She'd probably flip her lid. I know if our situations were reversed I'd totally freak out.' The red head thought to herself as she continued to watch the movie. Once the movie was over they started to flip through the t.v. channels when they stopped on a news report. "Authorities are still baffled as to what caused so many people to collapse at the Downtown Toronto Mall yesterday. Health Officials and Hazardous Material Teams are still sweeping the mall to make sure that there is no further health threat. On a brighter note more of the victims are beginning to recover from whatever it was that affected them. Doctors are expecting a full recovery." A brown haired female reporter said as she finished her report. Janet just shook her head. "I still can't believe it what could have happened to all those people?" Janet wondered aloud. Windy sighed and shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know but whatever it was I hope it can be taken care of." Windy replied while trying to keep her gaze away from her best friend. Windy knew that if Janet got one look into her eyes that she'd know she was lying. With that the topic of discussion was changed to what plans each girl had for the weekend. When neither girl said that they had any plans for the weekend they decided to make plans to do something together.

Zephyr's Base: Joe Majere had no idea what was happening to him, but something in his gut told him he wanted it. Something was telling him that he needed it. What ever the case was he was more than willing to accept it. He just knew that after all of this was over that he finally be able to get his revenge against Windy. He couldn't wait it seemed so close that he could see it now the look of defeat and loss on Windy's face as the one person closest to her is taken away. As Joe was lost in own sense of revenge he didn't even notice that Zephyr had entered the room. "So, tell me kid do you know why you're here?" Zephyr sneered. Joe looked up at Zephyr his eyes clouded over by sheer madness. "No, but I think I'm going to enjoy finding out why I'm here." He replied in a voice as equally filled with madness as his eyes were. Zephyr laughed at the response. "Oh yes my pet you will enjoy it." She gleefully stated as she brought out the red crystal sphere once again. Just like before it floated over to Joe and landed on his shoulder and it turned black the second it did so. This time however a black lightening like energy emanated from the sphere. The black lightening engulfed Joe's body Joe let out several screams of pain, but just seconds after it started it stopped. What stood in Joe's place was almost eight feet tall with jet-black hair, and eerie glowing reddish-orange globes where it's eyes should be, and a glowing reddish-orange oval shaped sphere where it's mouth should have been. Otherwise it looked like a skeleton with rusty red bones. "I am Xombor servant of General Pyrite." Zephyr looked at the Youma and smiled a wicked smile. "Xombor I am Zephyr special agent of her highness Queen Beryl. You've been placed under my temporary command. Your mission is to find and kill a Sailor Senshi. She calls herself Sailor Oberon. Draw her out into the open in whatever way you choose, and then kill her anyway you wish." Zephyr completed her orders to the Youma. "Yes, mistress I shall obey, but first I must take care of a matter somewhat more personal. It will not take me long to do so." The Youma bowed. "Yes, of course you may proceed with your mission at your discretion, but just make sure you get the job done." Zephyr told the Youma emphasizing the last phrase to let the Youma know that she would not tolerate any failure. The Youma bowed again and then disappeared in a flash of black energy. 'Enjoy what time you have left Sailor Oberon, because you're now on borrowed time.' Zephyr thought to herself.

Joe Majere's House: The Youma reappeared in Joe's bedroom and transformed back into its human guise. Joe laid down on his bed and started laughing. "Now we'll see who is truly better Windy, enjoy you're little gal pal while you've got her." He said aloud through his laughter. He wasn't really sure what happened to him but he knew that liked it. He had power beyond his wildest imagination. He knew just how he would get back at Windy he'd wait for school and make his move then. He always had the will to execute his revenge now he had the means as well. Joe couldn't wait he would take away that which is most important to Windy just as she had taken away what he most valued. Yes, it was now just a simple matter of hours. Joe had always heard that revenge was sweet, and now more than ever he believed it. Joe wouldn't sleep a single minute that night, but then again he really didn't need to with his true awaking as a Youma all need for sleep was now gone.

Windy's House: Windy was lying in her bed staring at the ceiling. She again had that chill running down her spine. That icy chill that felt like the touch of Death himself. But somehow this time it felt a little different less urgent. It felt as though evil was close by but not yet acting only watching, waiting, and planning. Windy let out a rather audible sigh. Loki stood up and looked at the red head for a couple seconds. "What's wrong Windy?" The cat asked. Windy slowly sat up before answering. "It's Janet, I honestly don't know how much longer I can keep all this from her. The two of us have never had any secrets that we've kept to ourselves before." Windy muttered. Loki looked at his young charge and shook his head. "Windy I can't believe this it hasn't even been three days yet; you just can't tell her or anybody else for that matter. It's far too dangerous." The cat again warned Windy about the possible risks in telling those that "don't need to know." Windy just laid back down she knew in her gut that Loki was correct but still it was silently killing her that she had to keep this secret from her best friend. Before Windy drifted off to sleep, Windy made a silent promise to herself that she would find some sort of compromise to this. "There has to some way that I can let Janet know that I'm really Sailor Oberon without putting her in danger." Windy mumbled under her breath just before she fell asleep. Loki heard Windy and he just whispered. "I'm sorry Windy there is no way to do that, but for your sake I truly wish there were." With that the cat also let himself be carried off by Sleep's tender embrace. NEXT PART 4: WINDY'S SECRET REVEALED.
