Rocky Cliffs
Early December, 2000
As whitecap waves crash down
on sand and shore,
Bright moonlight sparkles
through the tranquil sea;
I sit on rocky cliffs and
search for more.
The wonder of the cluttered
ocean floor
Perplexes thoughts of worlds
away from me –
The whitecap waves fall down
on sand and shore.
The salt and sand take stings
into my core –
Dark nightmares quake and
roll like this decree:
I’ll sit and fear these rocky
cliffs some more.
But light amazes broken grace
in doors,
And you’ll be strengthened
by those crossing beams,
But still, your waves crash
down on sand and shore.
The ocean world that breathes
abundant lore
Will swallow hope and shatter
all that glee
Those rocky cliffs will sit
and search for more.
A sunken ship will rise into
the war –
Three sailors on this ship,
completely free,
As whitecap waves crash down
on sand and shore;
Sitting on rocky cliffs, I’ll
search no more.
