Rugosa Rose to the Occasion JC
"Captain"
dob August 5, 2004
( Ch Hacker-Rwanda's Spotlight x Am DC/Can Ch Select's Rosa Rugosa SC, FCh )
It's true that most basenji bitches only come into season once a year, in the fall. I have been blessed (or cursed) with bitches that come in twice. So when planning Rosa's last litter, I tried for a spring litter. Often the spring breedings don't take, or the litters are very small, but I wanted to try.
On August 5, 2004 a wonderful beautiful red and white boy was born. I had waited for just the right boy from Rosa, one that would stay here, and finally I think I've got him. That special name I had been saving was his.
He is my Captain.
He will be proud, strong, and honorable.
Captain and Grandpa Joe

Captain (on the left) won a 5 pt major by going Best of Winners over his half - sib, Ada.
He placed in his sweeps class at the BCOA National Specialty in MO, Sept, 2005.
Captain is a male version of his dam, Rosa. He is serious, calm, quiet. It's funny, Rosa never listened to any other dog except our Spicer, but when this little pup was born, she was allowing him to order her around when he was 3 wks old. Still today, she feels he is the Captain.
