This girl LOVES to work and play and has always been very physical (and vocal!) in everything she does. I've called her my Tomboy since Day One. I had planned to keep a male and then had a litter of all females but Deja was determined to prove herself capable of filling the bill. When she was young the club joke was guessing whether she would go into heat or turn out to be a boy after all! Watching her on the sport field makes one wonder..........

Shown at left earning her BH under judge Ray Reid and at right competing at 2002 UDC Nationals.

Deja's motto, "work hard, play hard!

Deja's favorite hobbies include rodent hunting, frisbee ballet and tree assaults. For reasons clear only to her, she is sometimes obsessed about leaping up to pull limbs down and then hanging/tugging on them for ages. I have often continued on with the other dogs on our walks, leaving her behind and hearing her become louder and louder as she battles to defeat the tree so she can catch up with us- funny girl!! !

Part of the holistic care my dogs receive are their visits to Dr. Stephanie , our chiropractor/acupuncturist veterinarian. I have lost count of the numerous times she has put my guys back together again. I think it's worth mentioning that all of the crisis scenarios I can recall were injuries sustained while playing hard (see Deja's personal motto above!) and NOT during structured training. After 9 1/2 years of playing 'all-out' Deja is no stranger to these visits and is at the front door, crippled or not, long before I get there! All of the dogs have been quick to understand why we make these visits and that they can anticipate relief from the doctor's magic fingers.

The following pictures clearly show her initial tension & discomfort, the easing of her pain and finally, her grateful kiss, "look Doc, I can turn my head again!"

Deja's discomfort is easy to read in her body posture
more focus on painful neck&shoulder
a grateful look, leading to a kiss of thanks!
