I used to be a member of the 803, from October 1990 until October 1991 (or thereabouts). I received a double promotion and achieved the ranks of Leading Air Cadet AND Corporal, both at the same ceremony in 1991. As you can tell, I was dedicated and truly enjoyed the spirit and camaraderie of the 803 Sabre Squadron. Major Claude Durocher was the CO at the time, and he was an excellent leader and a true inspiration to all of us at that time! If any of my former friends from the 803 read this, I wish you all well and I would love to hear from you! As for the current members of 803, you are all part of a great organization and I know that your experiences here will help you achieve your future ambitions and dreams! Will you be coming back?: Euh I think so... | Comments: Good morning! How are you all? I'm feeling great but sad by the fact I finally retired (Am I the first cadet to retire twice??haha!). Yup my birthday is on the 12th (sorry I'm not coming to the dance, I've got a ski trip and a big supper that night). I just want to say that I had a great time as a cadet and that I learned a lot. In fact it brang me so much that I can't describe it all.. If I just had the chance to join at the age of 12.....I envy you guys ok but take full advantage of your opportuni y and don't realize too late how much the air cadet movement can bring to YOU! (This is when I believe that we have to listen to advices of people older than us with more experience in life) As you've seen in my speeches, I skipped a lot of effective speaking classes, but this is just one proof of how usefull your journey in cadets can be if you start working hard fom the beginning: you could have a perfect flow of words in your speech and ev n be a contestant in the effective speaking contest, who knows?? Of course I whiched I had the time to have my private pilot license, but hey I'm very proud to have my glider pilot license. So if you already have certain goals, make yourself a plan of what camps, etc you want to do and go for it! Your aims will probably change in time and get better for you so you have to keep alert and know deep inside you what you really want. I had a lot of goals when I entered in cadets: practise and get my english speaking better (ok my writing may be bad) ( nd I still can't say that "th" sound...the 2tird" rank in drill team..), loose a lot of my shyness, be a better leader, add a couple of medals and sport awards (male athlete glider99 EVVRE) on my wall ok ok (I just love sports for their ability to show ho someone can push himself to the maximum without being an expert in the discipline), fly solo in any kind of A/C, retire as SGT (got F/Sgt in 2 years... I'd like to thank Mike Bisson (ex-WO1 and CSC) for being the examplary person I looked up to when I was a recruit .) Alright there were many others too but my sentence was getting kind of long so..... As I grew up, I planned more things in my life: I'd like to become an officer (after still learning a lot during my CI time) and in a couple of years be the CO for a squadron (803?!?), play the pipes pretty good, etc and smaller stuff such as know more ab ut the net and be able to build a web page (Ms. Sidhu???). Ok I'll stop there and forget to say a lot of stuff so that the other "stuff" won't be "jealous" because I haven't mentionned them!.... if you don't understand its ok!(I'm thinking in french too often I guess...... hey WO1 Csizmar I've got an idea"r"...) This is a Musique Plus video dance and is the best dance that we have as cadets, even better than the Ottawa Ball (the dance itself). I will be taking down names of who wants preordered tickets. They are $12 each and worth every penny of it. If you need more information, don't hesitate to contact me by E-Mail or just ask someone else who has been there before. I look forward to seein you all there because this is what makes cadets more fun than it already is, to the point where you'll never want to leave cadets. |

So remember to bring your own sticks if you wish to play something different then dodge ball or ringuette... 2: Remember to sign up for the fairview....it is the best moment to sell your tickets without freezing your buttocks outside. I do not have the chance to come back to visit the squadron as often as I’d like, but I try to stop in once in a while for a visit... The feelings of being a frail young lad walking into this unknown universe always welcomes me at the door. As I walk ar und the corner and face the Parade Square, I’m flooded by all the emotions, once experienced by a young boy who grew into a man on that Parade Square. I will forever be grateful to all the people that I’ve been privileged to encounter during my time with the Cadet Movement, but especially the people that I met at the 803 North Shore Squadron. To all the people that I’ve met I would like to extend a personal “Thank you!”. Some were great allies, some were great competitors, and some were even formidable foes...
