Days 27 & 28 - Days Beavis to Beedelup Campsite

Finally the day of the resort had arrived. I had chosen Karri Valley Resort to celebrate making it halfway through my journey. So Day 27 was a walk to Karri Valley Resort and Day 28 was a very short 5km day if that to get from the resort to Beedelup the next campsite. By doing this I was putting myself one day behind Kevin whom I had now shared with or without Rone 6 campsites so far.

After yesterdays storms, today was a threatening grey sky day but fortunately it didn't rain. The Donnelley River valley was left after being with it for 5 days. Entering the Beedelup catchment I soon found myself at the Carey Brook Bridge where I had lunch before heading uphill and then slightly down again to Beedelup Lake. This was the original Australian home of the Orange People and now currently manages on the south side as Karri Valley Resort.

Not being able to check into my 3 bedroom chalet until 2pm I decided to do a walk to the walk-through tree. This is a Karri tree to the south east of the lake and added about 2km to my cumulative walking distance. Also when I arrived at Karri Valley the receptionist said "Bravo Davo" another sign that Rone was ahead of me setting up these little greetings before me.

For dinner I had Marron for entree with an Evans 7 Tate Semillon Chardonnay and for a main seared kangaroo with Pemberton Cab Sav. A most excellent way to celebrate half way in the journey. On the phone to Denise I had heard about the death of Steve Irwin - a big shock to me as with all Australians.

The following day I left late to the Beedelup hut. The Beedelup falls were audible all over the lake so it was quite a pretty spot to spend some time at for morning tea. I also started seeing a lot of Bronze Wing pigeons from this area onwards to Albany. The red book at Beedelup hut had a great plug for me from Rone - he must of missed my company. As I had the afternoon and evening to myself I was able to complete reading my fourth book on the track. No hikers turned up so for the second time I had a hut to myself.

Day 29 & 30 - Beedelup hut to Pemberton and rest day in Pemberton.
