Day 46 - Nullaki to West Cape Howe
During the night Gale Force Winds and rain hammered the hut but we were all safe and dry and perhaps the weather removed the mosquito problem that this hut is renown for. In any case I was safe in my tent and the Grannies even with mosquito coils were easier prey.
Most of the day was spent on top of high sand ridges looking over the coastline. The wind was still blowing a gale all day long. At Lowlands beach which is the only time during the day that the track drops down to near sea level I walked up to the lookout shelter and had lunch protected from the sun but not from the wind unfortunately.
Thankfully the wind died down in the afternoon and the hut was in a wonderful sheltered position next to a lookout. Still no whale sightings but good mobile coverage from the lookout. Prue and Bernice the two grannies walk at a much slower pace which unfortunately gives them more exposure to bad weather when it is around. They were not to happy with the weather at this point. Fortunately from this day until the last day of the walk the weather was sunny and relatively calm.
