Day 45 - William Bay Hut to Nullaki Campsite
The day began with threatening weather but thankfully the wind had died down from yesterday. I decided on not staying in Denmark but just getting my shopping done and then somehow moving on to the next hut. I was up at 3am and left the hut at about 5:15am to give me a few hours if need in Denmark.
The walk down to Light's Beach was without incident and so to the walk to Mt Hallowell. The walk up Mt Hallowell too seemed fairly easy with huge granite boulders particularly Monkey Rock and on the descent Alec's Rock. The view from the summit was a worthy spur trail to take and the Bibulmun track passes within a hundred metres or so of the top in any case. Upon the descent it was clear that the rain was still sticking to the sword sedge and wet forest understorey so it was a struggle to remain dry. The walk into Denmark from Mt Hallowell seemed to take a long time with suburbia and bushland intermixed.
From Denmark I shopped, had a steak sandwich at the pub as Stick recommended this and for $10 I was not disappointed. Finally at 12:30 pm I caught the only cab in town out to the Nullaki peninsula and rejoined the Bibulmun track. Finally at the hut I caught up with the Great Grannies who were initially two weeks ahead of me at Kalamunda. The Great Grannies had met Rone and left nice messages for him from Mt Clare onwards. Rone certainly knows how to make an impression on people.
