Day 44 - Boat Harbour to William Bay Hut

I left Boat Harbour at 7 am and by the time I had climbed out of Boat Harbour Beach area the weather turned on its foulest day of the walk yet. From Boat Harbour to the hill called "Hillier" the walk was on top of exposed sand ridges. On these ridges I was often nearly knocked over with gale force winds and driving horizontal rain.

I passed Parry Beach camping grounds in dismal weather and entered onto the beach with a pounding surf that sent waves up to the eroded sand cliffs so that every now and then I would have to run to a pile of sand at the base of these cliffs to prevent getting drenched by the waves. Parry's Inlet when it was reached was only ankle deep so that passing from Parry's beach to Mazzoletti beach was no trouble at all. High winds were now pushing me along so at least I didn't have to face the driving rain any longer.

It was with relief when the other end of the beach was reached about 7km later and a half hour beyond that I reached William Bay hut drenched but with dry clothes to be changed into. The granite scenery on Tower Hill where the hut is located is phenomenal. Below is a picture during a break in the weather looking west towards Mazzoletti beach.
