game 1: Atomic Warriors @ The Ginyu Force

what were the chances we'd end up playing the team we'd just played the game before and had lost to by a score of 1-10?...

  • # of players: The Ginyu Force - 8 (2 subs) for 1st 2 periods - 10 (4 subs) for 3rd period, Atomic Warriors - 9? (3 subs)...
  • analysis: again, I recognized a couple of their more skilled players from when we used to play pick-up late Friday nights a couple of years ago at the dek in North Hills... they've been playing together for a while and we really didn't have too much of a chance against their experience... the rain was coming down pretty good throughout the entire game and I think this was to our advantage because we could keep up with them somewhat... a couple of people overheard that this was the best team in the lower league, so our games should be much closer from here on, except when we play the Atomic Warriors again... I'm really not sure why they're not in the upper league, maybe other than for an easy championship or just to be able to totally dominate every game... I'll have to make a comment to Mark Walton about it... again, I think we did a good job considering our team's experience level (next to none) and we even got the 1st goal of the contest (our 1st lead this season!)... we held them to 20 fewer shots, too... I'm looking forward to the challenge of playing them again in a few weeks... hopefully, we can manage to keep them to under 7 goals...
  • goaltender situation: I played an average game - not too many spectacular saves to make... they got 32 shots, much fewer than they had our last game (54)... their goals were perfectly placed (many were screen shots) and I didn't have a chance at them at all...
