How Dare You Call Him My Friend

another angry poem by Peter Dell

How dare you call him
my friend.
You take away all that we have
fought for,
All those nights
he holding him
under the sheets
soft
protecting
waiting for the rhythm of his
sleeping breaths to regulate.

You take away every
sex we shared.
passion erased
orgasms elimnated.
You take away the
love I feel for this
man
the man I love
the man we have
no word for in this language
the man I love

How dare you call him
my friend.
He is so much more.
Yet sometimes I hear my own voice introducing
him as
My friend David.
