Out on the Links

I have always felt that, to a careful observer, a person's bookshelf reveals far more about the person than is generally recognized. Perhaps a links page is a good internet equivalent; here you will find the places I found interesting enough to revisit and recommend to friends and strangers.

This site contains the wit and wisdom of Cecil Adams, purveyor of knowledge to the teeming millions through an alternative newspaper column. Because of this man I know about the Zen of cow-tipping and how many calories are in the average ejaculation.

If your pet could write, these are the things he or she or it would have to write on the blackboard 100 times...As the "master" of two cats, I particularly enjoyed the "Bad Kitty" list. However, there are also lists for dogs, bunnies, and even ferrets.

Clicking on the picture of Thomas Love Peacock will take you to a site dedicated to the satirical novels and poems of one of England's Victorian luminaries. Given his time and place, his works are remarkably brief. For a quick taste of his sense of humor, read The Monks of St. Mark.

Not a very original link, perhaps, but it is only fair since they include a link to this site.

abebooks.com

This is a multi-dealer listing with an impressive search engine--a wonderful source for finding out-of-print and rare books.

The web site for the Library of Congress, this is a wonderful place to just get lost.
