It was time again, time to report to Dream Castle. Every pony had to go to Dream Castle, every year, for the harvest. It was sort of like a family reunion. There would be a huge festival after the harvest, and that’s what most of the ponies came for. Magic Star and the rest of the ponies were out in the grape orchard. There was a low rumble heard and the ponies all raised their heads. Magic Star sniffed at the air, a storm would be coming soon, she could smell the rain. "Hey Magic!" yelled Medly, trotting over. "Hellooooooo! Didn’t you hear the bugle? A bad storm is headed this way, we gotta go back to Dream Castle." Magic Star trotted over to Medly and they galloped back to Dream Castle with the rest of the ponies. All of the ponies gathered in the crowded main hall and sat at their tables. At her table, there were ponies of very noble blood, all of whom, owned their own estate, palace, castle, or island. There was Lady Northstar, who owned Dream Cloud, Flowerburst, who owned her own fantasy place, Cherry Treat, who was in charge of Sweetberry Gardens, Tootie Tails, who had her own Paradise Island, and Teddy, who had his own headquarters also. In a tank of water sat Sunshower, a seapony, who also had her own oasis. The chattery ponies quieted as High Queen Tiffany stood up at the podium. "Fellow ponies," she began in a stately manner. "First, I would like to thank you all for being here. Harvest is a busy time and I appriciate you all coming to help with harvest and join in the festivities afterwards. "As you can see, there is a storm coming, so harvest will be canceled for today. I know, I’m sorry. This is supposed to be a very bad one and I don’t want to risk anyone getting hurt. "Well, I hope you all enjoy your meal. And on behalf of Dream Castle, thank you." The murmurs of the ponies’ voices once again filled the air. The waiters brought out the food on silver plates and drinks in golden goblets. "So, how are things at Rainbow Palace, Magic?" asked Cherry Treat. "Splendid actually! We just finished building a small manor for the bushwoolies, and everyone is happy. How are things in Sweetberry Gardens?" "Very good," she replied as she poked at her food. "Why, um, hello Volcanoe." "Aw you ruined it Cherry!" said a big, orange, unicorn clydesdale pony with blue hair, about to sneak up and scare Magic Star. He pulled out a chair and sat down. "Honestly Volcano, when will you grown up?" asked Tootie Tails. "Aw, cut me a little slack, Tootie Tails. I’m here to have fun…and to check out the babes." Tootie Tails snorted and took a bite of food. "Speaking of babes, Cherry Treat, you look awful nice this evening," he said, leaning towards her. "Don’t even think about it Volcano," she said. The whole table roared with laughter. "You girls are so mean! My big sis will save me… Magic, save me from your evil friends." And at that, Volcano, who was at least twice as big as Magic Star, sat on her. He wrapped his arms around her neck and started whining. "Volcano! Volcano get off! You’re squishing me! GET OFF!!!" yelled Magic Star, she could barely breathe! "Aw you are such a wimp, Magic, really you are," said Volcano, hopping off back to his chair. "I think you would have the same reaction if something twice as big as you sat on you," Magic Star said coldly. "Naw, I wouldn’t. I can handle stuff like that," he said. "Oh really?" "Yep." "Okay then…we’ll just see about that," said Magic Star, standing up. "Hey Steamer! Over here! My little brother wants to know if—" "All right, shaddup. I give, I give… sit down," he said, hanging his head low. It was like that the whole meal. When it was finally over, all of the ponies either retired to their room or stayed in the main hall to talk. Magic Star went to her room, whom she shared with a few of her friends. "So Stormdancer, it wasn’t your storm this time?" asked Tootie Tails. "No," replied the black pegasus. She could control the weather most of the time, but this time the bad spell was sent by someone else, a rival. Just as they were about to sit down in front of the fire and chat, a tremendous clap of lightning ripped through the air. The ponies jumped about a foot high and yelled. They all began to giggle afterwards, however. They chatted about queens and kings, who was making eyes at who, who’s with child, who paints her face, and handsome princes. After extensive talking, they were all very tired. After mid-night snacks, they fell asleep. |
