At Monroe County Christian
Academy, we begin each day with proper honors to Christianity, the Bible and the
Nation. On Wenesday mornings we have chapel and bible study.
Our worship time will be used to develop our students spiritually, emotionally,
and socially in the body of Christ. We will offer a variety of activities
to demonstrate the fruits of the spirit filled and spirit led lifestyle.
All faculty and students are expected to attend and participate in chapel
as scheduled by the principal. All our School of Tomorrow books contain a required scripture verse to be learned. We believe that if someone is exposed daily to the scriptures his behavior cannot but help to reflect those lessons.
Safety/Health
Medical
All medication must be labeled with the student's name along with full instructions for administrating the medication. Parents should send written instructions explaining when the medication should be given. The school will not administer any medication (including Tylenol and aspirin) unless the medication permission form is filled out and signed by the parent or guardian. Students will not be permitted to give any medication to another student. This includes prescription medicine, vitamins, food supplements, aspirin, Tylenol, etc.
Prior to administrating any medication Monroe County Christian Academy must have on file a signed release form from the parent or guardian that authorizes the administration of the medication. Detailed written instructions on the Monroe County Christian Academy's form must be submitted by the parents as to the proper administration of all medication for their child.
For the protection of the other students and to facilitate the prompt recovery of a sick student, parents of sick students are not to permit them to attend school as the school is not equipped to care for sick students. If you are called by the office about a sick child, you must come at once to pick him/her up.
A student who is
too ill to remain in class is to report to the office. Office personnel
will assist the student and contact parents if the student is too ill to
remain in school. In case of an injury, the teacher will contact
the person designated by the school to administer first aid.
Weather
In the event of severe weather conditions Monroe County Christian Academy may close or delay opening to facilitate safe travel. If Monroe County Schools are closed,so is the Christian Academy. In such an event, news media services will be notified. Therefore, local television and radio stations are the most helpful in obtaining "up to the moment" news regarding closing or delayed openings
Tornado Drills: Periodic tornado drills will be held.
Fire
Periodic fire drills are required by law. Evacuation procedures will be published and explained by the teachers to be followed in an emergency.
School Arrival/Departure
Arrival
Students should arrive at school by 8:30 AM. According to TN law we do report children for excessive tardies or absences where there are not legitimate reasons or doctors excuses for them. We always try to work with children who do have medical conditions, but we also work within the legal system as required by TN educational laws.
