BIOGRAPHY:
Thomas Keith may have been christened on 3 July 1769, in the Parish of Old Machar, Aberdeen. However, this would make him thirty-five when he married in 1804, and fifty-six when his last child was born. If this assumption is correct, he was the fifth of nine children born to William and Jean Keith in Old Machar. His siblings were William, Euphemia, Christian, George, Elspet, Alexander, James and John. It is interesting to note, as further evindence of a link between the two people, that if these people are in fact one, that he named two of his daughters after his only two sisters (Euphemia and Elspet). This would seem to be strong circumstantial evidence of them being the same person.
What is certain is that he definately married Margaret Henderson in 1804 in Old Machar, however, it is unclear whether they married on 2 June or on 17 June.
They went on to have nine children; Elspet, Elesebeth, Margaret, Jean, Thomas, Ann, Euphemia, Helen and Richard, all born between 1804 and 1825. Elspet was first and was christened in Saint Nicholas in 1804. The next two were christened together in Old Machar in 1806 and appear as if they could be twins. The remaining children were all christened in Saint Nicholas. It is not clear whether the family moved back to Old Machar for a time, or for some reason, merely had two daughters christened there.
I don't know when Thomas died.
