Sam Zigler - Zaida
"our grandfather"

Most of these pictures where taken at my wedding.

Sams Retirement in 1982Just an example of how great Zaida was.

One particular awful fight with my husband, I went to my mothers house to complain about my husband. With my three children in tow. Begging for me to let me stay the night. At the same time my sister Naomi was living with my mother with her twin baby boys. This was stressful and with both me and my sister asking for her undivided attention. Mom snuck away to get some much needed piece.. She called her father. This is how the conversation went.

"DAD... " with tears. " When do your children stop coming to your with all there problems.?"

"Aww.. it hasn't for me yet. " With a burst of laughter.. Mom felt better.. Thanks Zaida. but did she have to send us home?

Uncle Micheal and Rachel My Uncle Micheal wrote me a wonderful not telling me about my grandfather. The following was from he email "Anyways here is my favorite of Zaida's jokes:
Four "ultracuckers" (yiddish for old geezers I think) were sitting around telling jokes like they always did every Tuesday. They always told the same old jokes and were getting weary of all the energy it took to say the whole joke so Abe came up with a plan to help. They numbered all of their jokes and carefully memorized the numbers and the corresponding jokes. So Abe would say "Number 45" and the three others would think about that joke and laugh. Moishe then said "Number 37!" and Abe, Ben and Shlomo responded "ha ha ha ha ha!" Ben said "Number 63" ..... Abe, Shlomo and Moishe laughed heartily. But when Shlomo said "Number 19" there was a long pause and silence. Abe leaned over to Moishe and said "Shlomo never could tell a joke well!".

Melissa his beautiful daughter and my cousin of 6 years old called Zaida "Grandpa Sam". This morning she said to me - "Daddy are you sad that Grandpa Sam died" and I said "yes honey, I'm very sad". She said "I'm sad too.... he was my grandpa!"
