Welcome to the 5th week of the LAST quarter in the 2008-2009 school year.

******************************************ANNOUNCEMENTS***********************************************

MAP Testing on Wednesday, April 29--Please report to the Media Center

Only 5 weeks of class left before Final Exams.

Monday, May 25 is a school holiday

***********************************************************************************************************

Last week, we completed our work in Chapter 13.  This week and next, we'll take a short trip through Chapter 14.  We'll have the Chapter 13/14 exam on Friday, May 8.  See the "What to Study" guide on the Study Guide.

On Monday, May 11, we move on to chapters 15 & 16--Our last unit of the year.  We'll do what we can to get through bonding in the last 3 weeks.  We'll start out looking at Ionic Bonding, the properties of ionic crystals, and bonding in metals.  Following Ionic Bonding, we'll begin to look at Covalent Bonds.

There is lots to do and very little time in which to do it.

We'll be moving fast and furious--Be sure you keep up.

We have out last regular exam on Friday, May 8.  The last unit will be covered on the Final Exam.

Parents--Encourage your student to work hard all the way to June 5.

The final exam will be  32% new material (bonding) and 68% old material (Chapters 10, 11, 12, and 13/14 exams).

Specifically, there will be  32 multiple-choice questions on bonding, and 17 each from chapters 10, 11, 12, and 13/14.  The format of the final exam will be multiple-choice.  The questions from chapters 10-14 will be based on, but not the same as, those on old exams.   Questions will cover both calculations and theory.  There will be no partial credit on the calculation questions.

I suggest students begin reviewing as soon as possible.  There is a ton of material to review.

Beginning this week, my extra-credit calculations will be review calculations.
