Don't forget to stop by and watch my daughter, Amanda , build her new web page from scratch !!! She has graciously decided to allow me to show her how to create her own web page. She just signed up and started on August 31, 1998; and, has already choosen her: background; text, link and vlink colors; put her title on her page; and entered a couple of sentences describing her page! Amanda will be doing all the surfing for ideas, etc.. and will be typing the html herself. I am just hanging around for guidance (and on a selfish note - to get a little quality time together...). She next plans to add some graphics and maybe some links to midi sites that have 70's music (she's "into the Retro 70's" she says...).
Check out her web page at:
Hey ~ Check It Out!!! Looks like Amanda - being the INDEPENDANT TYPE - has ventured out to create her own group of webpages without any input from me! All I know is one day she asked me to look at something... and, there they were -- AmandasWackyWebPages! How kewl is ThAt?!?
Check out her web page at:
My Congrats go out to my 'little' brother, Shawn -- He's finally on the 'Net! His site has a collection of really fascinating artwork!NOTE: Shawn's site is temporarily not up to par... go ahead and help me keep up with his progress! I'll let you know when it's back on par otherwise...
Check out his web site at:
Kudos to my other 'little' brother, Paul (Pablito for short...) -- He has decided to spread his knowledge of our family history via the 'Net! His sites include A LOT of detailed geneology info about our ancestors - and, even some pictures that are probably older than most the people checking 'em out!!! So far he has information on the following families: Selk, Mc Donald, Ledford, & Fick - and, promises to keep adding more...
Check out his web site at:
My Mom is really into collecting business cards - so, naturally her site is devoted to collecting business cards (specifically, it has information about the American Business Card Club (ABCC); and, a form you can print to sign up as a member of ABCC)! She's also got a little bit of Geneology Humor; and, plans on expanding her site to include more Geneology Topics (as geneology is probably her #2 hobby!)...
Check out her first web site at:
My Mom now has another two web sites -- These she is creating on her very own !!! (I am the 'webmistress' on her geocities site...) These pages include info on the American Business Card Club (ABCC) & Geneology . Some of the family names included on my Mom's pages are: Ingram, Shelhorse, Crow & Dossey...
Check out these other two sites at:
My Cousin Kristi has created a page to tell her family's story. **In her words: " In this page you will be told one remarkable, heart warming, heart breaking, horrible, loving story...".** She also has lots of Poems & Pictures!
Check out her web pages at:
My Uncle Carroll has a Really Cool Site - Lots of JAVA and other neat stuff!!! Descriptions could not possibly do his site justice... You'll just have to go
Check out his web pages at:
My Cousin Cory is planning to go to Hawaii -again- for his next vacation; so, his site is devoted to all different links about Hawaii. He didn't just make a list of links, though - He has a neat 'water' background and interesting graphics that all tie into Hawaii... Makes a person wonder if he's getting a kickback from the Islands Chamber of Commerce.. he he he
Check out his web page at:
Cory has created another page on his site to give us a little glipse into himself...
Check out Cory's other web page at:
Now this next page is neither a link to a Web Site, nor does it have anything to do with any of my relatives; but, rather, it is a special page on my site dedicated to my very Best Friend, Billy !
Check out this special page at:
My Best Friend, Billy has finally BEGUN creating his very own webpage! He has respectfully requested that his URL not be posted at this time. E-Mail him for more details...
For now, I am just going to list the other sites that I either have created (or am in the process of starting...). I have several; because, initially I had planned on checking out the various Free Web Pages available on the 'Net and creating simple little pages to link to from my Building Better Web Pages! page as another part of the references included on the page... (and, hey let's be real - I can use all the exposure I can get!!!) - Well, let's just say, "I got side-tracked!"...
Fair Warning: Many of these sites have just BARELY been signed up for (and some not even started)... I will try to note which are Up-and-Running; and, which aren't (but, if you are interested in creating your own web pages, you might want to check 'em all out - just to get an idea which Free Web Pages program best suits YOUR needs...!)
My first (and fav) Home Page - Here at GeoCities!
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Acres/8391
NOTE: GeoCities teamed up with Yahoo; and, gave us all 'shortcut' URL's now... My pages can still be accessed using the 'long' URL; but, can now also be accessed using the following: http://www.geocities.com/lisaselk
My little experiment at Tripod. Also recently updated... Has a few more links than before (one link to a site created by 'Lisa B.' - don't know her - her site is where I got my idea to create my own web page!) - Another **UGH** template...
http://members.tripod.com/~Selk
This next one, I just had to re-create from scratch again today (08/08/98); because the host souped up their servers - AND WIPED EVERYTHING OFF MY PAGES!!! - Do you think I had a backup - yeah right! That is why it looks alot like my GeoCities Pages (the colors 'n all). This will be the next site that I start devoting alot of time to ('cause I like the URL...)
http://selk.ourfamily.com
You are not going to believe the story behind this one! This page was created using a template - but, I didn't even know I was creating it yet when I made it!!! See, the site is at a server that mostly has a bunch of CHAT ROOMS; but, even if you don't chat (which I don't...), you can still sign up for a Free Web Page... First you sign up using forms like most other Free Home Page Submission Forms.. and, before you know it - all the info you put on the form IS YOUR WEB PAGE! As much as I hate using templates (I like to be in control!)... This was a really neat experience for me - and I love the little page I *accidently* created! - YOU HAVE TO CHECK THIS ONE OUT!.. but, beware! It has a lot of *me* in it (including a bit of attitude - hope I don't offend any of y'all!!!)

This page I just signed up for about a week (or year) or so ago. Nothing really on it yet. I'll keep you posted on my progress...

Here's a page I started earlier last summer. Another nothing to see yet page... (I forgot I had it until I came across the e-mail verifying my new URL while I was cleaning out some old e-mail...). Again, I will keep you all posted...

NOTE: I am (temporarily???) not online with AT&T... Seems I owed them more $$$ than I could swing at the moment...
My free home page from my ISP (AT&T Worldnet). Finally, I have went in to update this page... It now includes two Four Generation Photos (Me, Grandma, Mom, & Daughter)! It also includes some links to other pages for you to check out... Also of special note to me - I have re-written it in HTML instead of using their Template! ;)

Well, I think that's it for my little contributions to the 'Net... Happy Surfin'!
