This page contains links to great websites and to places where you can download great stuff! To the best of my knowledge, these links work...however, if you find one that does not seem to be correct any more, please e-mail me at liquid_rockface@yahoo.co.uk. I have divided the links into categories to make things easier.

If you have found or created a cool website, please e-mail me and tell me about it! I might add it to this page!

Webmasters please feel free to link to my website. I have a banner advert available if you would like it. Just e-mail me for it please.

Because the links' page is so long, I'm not going to use my "new" images. Otherwise you'll just have to scan through the list and see for yourself what is new. I'm also going to mark exceptionally good websites with a little "gold" image. Webmasters please note that the Gold award is awarded purely on my own subjective judgement. Neither paying me nor being really nice to me will help you to get this award.

Faxes, modems, digital cameras, printers, monitors etc. Read reviews from readers to get their opinions of the product. Highly recommended for somebody looking to buy something, but needing some feedback. I must warn, however, that for every product there are people saying that it is rubbish and must be avoided at all costs. Don't take this too seriously as long as the majority of people are happy.

Popular Mechanics - The website for the famous magazine. Really good, but very slow-loading!

Federation of American Scientists (FAS) - A search engine for all things scientific and military. You can even find a full 200-odd page manual on how to fly the space shuttle!

Space Shuttle Sim - If you have ever fancied being an astronaut, here is the website to live out your dream (sort of). This simulation - which you download from the website - is not a game, rather an attempt at a 100% realistic space shuttle (and other spacecraft) simulator. Launching, docking, orbit, landing etc is all covered with precise detail. Unfortunately there is no sound in the simulator, but then again it takes place in space (which is a vacuum and therefore has no sound) so we can forgive them. Be warned that if you do not have a high-speed Internet connection, downloading the shuttle sim could take as long as it would have taken you to become a real, trained astronaut! (Over 50MB of downloads including patches etc.)

Which OS are you? - This entirely trivial website will "determine" after a short questionnaire which OS you should be "using". This website should be taken completely as a joke, and not seriously!

Online Tests - IQ, EQ, personality and more tests can be found at this website. They will give you your score, but don't expect a comprehensive report back unless you spend around $15.

Online Java Games - A fair number of rather entertaining, and very quick to load online Java games. Totally silly and totally addictive, this website will keep you entertained for hours.

I highly recommend that you download this patch now!

Satellite Finder - Use NASAs superb satellite-finding tools to predict when satellites are going to be flying over your area, or when they did fly over. Absolutely superb website, and I've already spotted about 6 satellites including the International Space Station! Java Virtual Machine required for some tools.

File Extensions - Ever wondered what program a file extension (e.g. .doc) belongs to? Find out here with this very good list of just about every single file extension in the world!

Spyware Checker - Want to know if that program you downloaded is spyware? Find out at this very good spyware search engine.

Currency Converter - Convert from any currency to any currency for any amount. This website has live exchange rates, therefore it is always accurate.

Identikit Builder - Ever wanted to build an identikit of yourself and stick it up at the local shopping mall along with the "Wanted" posters? No? Well, at this website you can create an identikit of either yourself, a friend, or, naturally, an enemy! I must add that there is a "bug", where sometimes the contents with the different face parts refuse to refresh themselves. I'm still trying to work out how to get past this.

BotSpot - A website I had long forgotten about! A "bot" is short for "robot", and they are little automated programs that can do things for you e.g. surf the web, speak to you. I remember downloading a speech bot called Leo (I think). You had to teach him how to talk, like a baby. Was entertaining for a while, but he really was quite dumb! (or maybe I wasn't patient enough)

What's in your Name? - This website analyzes names and writes up a detailed report on them. Every single name I've ever typed in has been found, and their database of names is huge. Often the reports they come up with are freakily accurate, hitting the nail on the head with regards to interests, professions etc. Please note that I do not claim to "believe" or otherwise what is written on the website, but from a purely intellectual point of view it is interesting. Use Google and you'll find that for each "detailed write-up" there are at least 5 other names with the same copy-'n-pasted write-up!

Convert Everything Online - This website contains scores of tools for converting and calculating. Whether you want to convert metres to feet, Fahrenheit to Celsius or find out whether you are legally drunk, this is the place to do it!

Privacy and Security

PC Flank - Check your browser security, open ports, and more at this excellent website. It also includes an exploits test (be aware that it may crash your computer) and a trojan scan.

Browser Check - If you are concerned, as you should be, with your computer's security, then check here to see if your web browser if safe from the latest exploits. One of the tests returned false results on my computer, I dare say, but this is a reliable website overall.

SpamHole - This website offers a (free) temporary e-mail address. It's hard to explain briefly how it works, but visit their website to find out. I highly recommend this for people who hate getting spammed when they sign up for an online service/website. I've tried and tested it, and it's truly fabulous!

Port Lookup - Want to know what port number HTTP uses? Or maybe what the name for port 23 is? This superb port searching facility lets you look up ports in various ways. I'd been looking for a website like this for quite a while, and I must say it's a real blessing!

Password Strength Meter - Do you think that your passwords are secure? Find out at this website, which will also suggest ways that you should strengthen your password.
