Background

Bee KC Tan loved to draw as soon as she could grasp a pencil in hand. However, she pursued a career in medicine and it was only in recent years that she was able to study art.

She graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Singapore.with the Certificate in Western Art in 1999. While at NAFA, she was also a keen participant in various short courses organised by NAFA as well as the SIA-La Salle College of the Arts. These include Advanced Watercolour Workshops, Outdoor Watercolour Painting, Figure Drawing, Oil Painting and Portraiture. She is a versatile artist with a wide repertoire of works in all mediums but recently she works mainly in watercolour and oil. Figure drawing and portraiture are her current interests although landscapes and still life, especially toys in whimsical arrangements are perennial favourites.

She is also a self-taught cartoonist and illustrator. Dr Tan works as a medical doctor in private practice. Some of her works are in private collections. She participated in "Figure Art 2001" organised by Singapore Art Society.

Artistic Statement:  " My approach to Art is unabashedly simple: I wish to create something beautiful, pleasing to the eye and uplifting to the soul. My inspiration comes from the original perfection of God's creation."

Membership: She is a member of the Singapore Art Society and Federation of Art Societies Figure Club.
