SOLD OUT!! The book, "Soviet Chess, 1917 - 1991,"
by GM Andrew Soltis. This is a hard-back book with a library-type binding. (Black exterior.)

This is a brand-new book, it is simply an extra copy. (Several friends and students sent me copies of books without asking me first. They were sending me stuff for Christmas or my birthday that was on my "wish-list" on Amazon-dot-com. I have not updated this list in some time.)

The publisher's list price for this book is 75 dollars. I will sell it for ...

It is a funny story how I came to get these books. (And also sell them.)

Way back in the 1970's, I had an old and very dear friend in south Florida. While not much of a chess player, he was a kind, enthusiastic, and a very dear and generous soul. Anytime I went to this region to play in a chess tournament, I was always welcome in his home. (This was a relationship that I thoroughly enjoyed for close to 20 years.)

He also owned a book store, naturally he sold chess books as well as all kinds of new and used books. Sadly, he passed away, but he was in his 80's, or even his 90's. (I guess you could say he lived a full life ... he leaves behind a large and beautiful family.) A box was found in the attic ... with my name on it. The family wished to liquidate everything, but also wanted to faithfully adhere to this gentleman's wishes. So they sent me the whole box. (It contained more than one copy of the book!) I stuck the box in an outside storage area ... and more or less forgot about it for a while. (Really, for quite some time.)

In the meantime, I had already purchased the book. I finally got in touch with the family, I sent them a letter that took them over a year to reply to. I told them I had a copy of the book, would they like me to return the box? A daughter or grand-daughter called me. She told me that ... the book-store had been sold ... and they did not want the books back and they would not know what to do with them anyway. When I asked her what I should do with the books, she told me to give them away as gifts or even sell them. (I finally got around to taking her advice!!)

ALL the games that GM Larry Christiansen played ... when he won in the 2002 U.S. Championships. On a 3.5 inch floppy disk. DEEP analysis, in some cases there is a deep opening repertoire as well. (In a ChessBase format, you MUST have a current version of this program for this thing to work.)

This collection was written NOT only to help you to learn chess, but also to learn the openings as well. (Explanations of many of the ideas.)

A book project? - ALL the games of Linares, 2004.

(March 05th, 2004.) This is a project I have already started, in fact, I began working on it the day after the first round was completed. All the games will be annotated, some will be annotated VERY deeply. (A few of the games are already complete.) For a sneak peak ... that is FREE!!! ... go to my "Downloads" web site and download the file. (Look for the page for all of my downloads.)

I am not sure what to charge for this, thirty-five bucks sounds like a fair deal. ALL orders will have to be paid for in advance. You will also have to send me a SIGNED letter which will basically be a contract. In this letter you will affirm that you will accept the terms of my copyright. You will also agree to accept any and all damages if you violate those terms.

It will be available ONLY in the ChessBase format!! You will need to own a FULL (legal) copy of any CB product, (like CB 8.0, Fritz, Junior, Hiarcs, Shredder, etc.); to view these files. (CB lite will NOT work.)

It will be available ONLY on a floppy disk - available directly from me. There will be an extra five dollar charge for the floppy, and a three dollar charge for mailing. (Please let me know if you are interested.)
