About Faye Just Like to Sing
1969 August 8th. Born as Xia Lin to an engineer father and a singer mum, Faye Wong is the younger child with an elder brother. Given her mother’s maiden surname “Xia” and “Lin” in her father’s name, Faye later went on under a few names not by her choice, to become today’s “Wang Fei”. As a child, she used to be under the care of a neighbour whom she affectionately calls, “Da Ma” while her Mum often travels throughout China to perform.

Faye did well throughout primary, secondary school and college. She was also out-going and active in sports. She loved volleyball and ping-pong, which she still enjoys a game or two today. But what truly exhilarated her was and is: Singing.
Faye’s very first album recording came about as a result of her school teacher’s encouragement. It was aptly titled, “Miss Charming”. It shows her Teresa Teng-inspired singing style at a very young age of 16. Also released around the age of 16 was another album titled, ”Where Does The Wind Comes From”.
