This page is all about the shows. This is the most important part of music. It's the people's ability to see their bands live and contribute to the event.
You can listen to all the bootlegs and live releases you want, but there is no true substitue for the real thing.
With that, I give you...
DA SHOWS
JOPLIN, MO
bringeth the new age of Joplin....
First there was the Squirm era. The greatest hardcore band to ever play in the 4-states. During their time, the bar scene was played out with the heart-filled rantings of Joplin's notorious, Walking on Einstein, who were later parodied in a song by VD. Squirm, however, played wherever they could...the Cow Palace, the ATA Hall, the storage unit in Duquene, Bruce's basement and Studio-B, Anderson's arcade, Springfield, Tulsa, wherever...
Also in this time, there were the Sodomites, the GG Allin riot, Public Assassin, Scalp and Big Don's band.
Then, there was the age of Encrusted and the Richards. Slowly, ska bands were creeping into the scene with the likes of Big Bad Chubba and the Rowskabouts.
The next era was the rise of Initial Detonation, a band that has consisted of well over 10 different members. They played shows at the BTB Skatepark, and did a couple of tours, the last of which was cut short however and left the band without a drummer.
Now is a new millenium. There are a bunch of new bands coming out of the four states woodwork. With the only alternatives being bar-cover bands and the infamous Carbon Star, the locals have had enough.
This new wave of music includes Powerstall, Bastardwrench, The Backseat Girls, Last Call, Lucid, Half Driven, Hangmen's Tree, The Camorra (springfield), and of course, Sugafoot and the Midwest Playas, the acoustic veteran's on the block, Yellobean and Vaginal Discharge.
Let the millenium begin...

MojoMusic is the music newspaper for the area. They deal mostly with blues/rock bands and is run by the guys from the Websters. They do a great job of covering the area's scene and I hope to get them to bring our world of hardcore/punk/metal/hiphop to their publication. This variety will ensure that their paper covers the entire musical spectrum of the area.
Their site also has a good calendar of upcoming events.
Below is a list of the band pages that MojoMusic has at their site. To get to their site just click the logo above.
