~  If you can start the day without caffeine..

~  If you can get along without pep pills

~  If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains..

~  If you can resist complaining and boring people with your
    troubles..

~  If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it ..

~  If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to
    give you any time..

~  If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you
    when, through no fault of yours, something goes wrong..

~  If you can take criticism and blame without resentment..

~  If you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct
    him/her...

~  If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend..

~  If you can face the world without lies and deceit..

~  If you can conquer tension without medical help..

~  If you can relax without liquor..

~  If you can sleep without the aid of drugs..

~  If you can honestly say that deep in your heart, you have no
    prejudice against creed, color, religion or politics..

                                            THEN..

You have almost reached the same level of development as your dog.
DOG PRAYERS
Dear God, are there mailmen in Heaven, and if there are, will I have to apologize?

Dear God, why do people love to smell flowers, but seldom sniff each other?  Where are their priorities??

Dear God, when my family eats dinner, they always bless their food.  But they never bless mine.  So..I've been wagging my tail extra fast when they fill my bowl.  Have you noticed?

Dear God, when we get to Heaven, can we sit on Your couch?  Or is it the same old story?

                                                   Amen

OL' HENRY
He showed up one cold winter's day
when the snow was dustin' the ground;
and Pa said that I could keep him,
even though he warn't much of a hound.

That ol' mutt didn't favor nuthin'
if you was passin' out pedigrees;
but thar warn't a one any finer
than Ol' Henry, I guarantee.

I fancied he'd be a huntin' dog
'cause he purely did love to run;
but he'd always run and hide hisself
when I got out my B.B. gun.

He'd meet me after school each day
and he never once missed the bus;
we'd walk on down to the river,
and we'd talk..just the two of us.

And that pup was a champeen sniffer..
had a nose that just wouldn't quit;
and if a sniff didn't "sniff" just right,
he'd stop and he'd water it.

He was a mighty swell guard dog, too,
anyone who had eyes could see;
warn't never no cat or no car
could get anywheres close to me.

He'd chase them for over half a mile,
and scare 'em 'most near to hell;
then, awful proud, he'd prance right back
a-grinnin' and waggin' his tail.

Ol' Henry, he lived a good dog's life
and he loved me right up to the end;
He warn't just any old dog, you see...
Ol' Henry was my best friend.
