A Message From The Editor

Our theme approach seems to be working. Note the many articles which deal with REUNION. The theme for our next issue will be: "RATS/RED CLAY." The submission deadline is July 31, 2000. We received over $3600.00 in donations for the REMEMBRANCES section. Outstanding! We invite those who took the time to remember someone, to write about that person. Let us all know why that person is special to you. It is also our intention to memorialize as many of our KIA's as possible. If you have a picture of someone who was a KIA who served at Khe Sanh, please send it in for consideration and possible use.

Future themes will be: Winter 2001 "DANGER CLOSE" and Spring 2001 "HONOR."

Ed.

From Tom Eickler
The Veep

Dear Member of Khe Sanh Veterans:

At the request of many members, we are going to publish a Directory of Members of the Khe Sanh Veterans. The last directory was published in 1996 and is very inaccurate. In order to provide a Directory completely up to date, we are going to need the help of the membership. I have just recently completed a new Computerized Database, which still needs work.

Regardless if you pay your dues or not, you will always be carried on the Khe Sanh Veterans Roster and included in the new directory. This is why it is so important to have complete, accurate information. This Database is kept solely by the Khe Sanh Veterans and is only available to three persons. No information will be released to any outside organization for any reason. If your telephone number is unlisted it will be confidential. Put down as much information as possible. When the category calls for Unit, be complete, not 2e Marines or 1/9. List the whole unit such as B Co. 1/9, or HAW-262 not just Helos.

We want to keep our organization going for a long time and want to keep in contact with the members. If the yearly dues are not paid, you will only receive one Khe Sanh Veteran Magazine a year instead of the three we mail out. We must do this whether we want to or not. We do not advertise or send our magazine to anyone but members. We have a strict budget and the cost of printing and mailing is very expensive. We can only provide this service through the generosity of our membership.

From Mike Worth

Chairman, 2001 Reunion

Just a few words regarding the 2001 Reunion, hone founder Ray Stubbe, which will be held in Chicago. The committee has been working on the sight selection and it narrowed down to a few hotels with which we are negotiating. The best room rates are coming up in midsummer. The hotel chosen will be the one offering us the most reunion-friendly services and amenities, at the best price.

Please consider this a call for volunteer Reunion Committee members. Anyone who wants to get involved especially, but not limited to those in the area, please contact me. I would also like to hear from the Membership during this planning stage with questions, comments or suggestions. We have some ideas and a few things in the works, but your input and ideas are most important.

Friends and Members of 3/26

1 February 2000

Bill Sigafoos, formerly of Lima Company, has updated me on the reunion plans. The reunion will be held from 3-6 August 2000 in Dana Point, California.

For those of us who remember Camp Pendleton, Dana Point is a few miles north of the base. Bill has arranged for us to stay at the Dana Point Quality Suites. We have a block of rooms available at $79 per night. For those of you who don't get to southern California very often. that is an extremely competitive rate.

The hotel is located at 34208 Pacific Coast Highway and you may reserve rooms by calling (800) 232-3262. When making reservations, please mention hotel code CA540, package code L26MAR to get the special rate.

Please make reservations soon as this is not a large hotel.

Semper Fi,

Walt
