Joe's Apartment

*~* Chapter 3: Boyfriend / Breakdown *~*
Josephine lay on her back staring at the ceiling. It was a Saturday morning and
she'd been in bed awake for almost two hours. It was 10am when she finally
decided to get out of bed. She walked into the kitchen and got some orange juice
out of the fridge. She drank it straight out of the carton.
"Good Morning sunshine!" AJ said. He was sitting at the table
eating fourth dimensional frosted flakes.
"Good Morning AJ." Josephine replied, digging deeper into the fridge
for something to eat.
"Nice Jammies!" AJ commented at the FSU sweatshirt, Grey panties and
socks she was wearing.
Josephine blushed a little and sat at the table across from AJ with a blueberry
muffin in her hand.
"So what are you going to do today?" AJ asked finishing his cereal and
zapping the bowl away.
"Oh nothing much, I'm gonna stay home for most of the day, and I may go out
with Sean tonight." Josephine replied picking at her muffin.
"Who's Sean?" AJ asked
"My boyfriend. I didn't I tell you."
"No." AJ replied fading away.
"AJ come back." Josephine sighed.
There was complete silence. She went into her bedroom and knocked on the wall.
"Come on AJ stop acting like that." After a few minutes of pleaded to
AJ to come out, Josephine gave up.
*~*~*~*~*
AJ wasn't responding to her because he wasn't even there. He'd gone to the 27th
dimension the dimension of jealousy, to cool off. He wasn't surprised that she
had a boyfriend, as beautiful as she was. 'God, I wish I was mortal so could
fight for her.' AJ thought. He stuck his hand in his pocket and pulled out a
little book. It said "The Guide to loopholes in Immortality." AJ
totally forgot he had the book. He flipped through the pages. 'Bingo! This is
exactly what I need!' AJ thought.
When AJ got back, Josephine wasn't home. 'Wow, that was quick, I was only gone
like twenty minutes.' AJ thought. But then he remembered that times goes faster
in the 27th dimension. Twenty minutes there is equivalent to twenty hours here.
That meant it was the next day. Well, evening. At that moment, the door flew
open. Josephine walked in with a guy attached to her lips. He picked her up and
carried her into the bedroom and slammed the door. All night he heard noises
coming from Josephine's bedroom. He cringed every time he heard a moan of
pleasure escape from her lips. Then he decided to have a little fun with them.
He walked to the room and knocked on the door. Then he let his hand go right
through and waved at Josephine.
"What's that noise?" Sean asked.
"Oh it's probably just the wind or something." She
replied.
Then she saw AJ's hand come through the door and he waved at her. The sight
startled her and she pushed Sean off of her.
"What's wrong baby?" Sean asked in a concerned tone.
"Um, nothing." She replied. "Sean, I think you should
go."
"Something's wrong, I'm not leaving until you tell me what's wrong!'
"You, you won't believe me if I tell you. You'll think I'm crazy!"
Josephine replied with tears in her eyes.
"At least give me a chance to understand." Sean encouraged her.
"Fine, I'll tell you." She grumbled. "You know how I was
saying I was surprised that the land lord rented this place so cheap, well I
found out why."
"Why?" Sean asked
"Because...because it's haunted." Josephine whispered.
"What?" Sean snapped.
"It's haunted by a ghost." She repeated.
"You know I think you were right. I should go." Sean said getting his
stuff and heading to the door. He didn't even say good bye. Josephine sat on her
bed with tears in her eyes. She put on some clothes and walked into the living
room.
"I hope you're happy!" Josephine called out.
She was right. AJ was very pleased, that the guy had left. But he could kick
himself for making her cry.
*~*~*~*~*
For the next few weeks, Josephine totally ignored AJ. She was so mad at him for
chasing Sean away. If he hadn't been knocking on the door, she wouldn't have had
to tell Sean about him. This day; a Tuesday, Josephine was busy at her computer
typing away. She was typing her thesis for Physiology class. AJ slipped up
behind her, staying invisible of course and read the title of her report.
"Hallucination, delusion, and how they effect a person's everyday
life." AJ couldn't help but laugh a little. But then again, she was writing
it for a Psychiatry class. He took a few moments to read the introduction
paragraph.
"AJ could you please move from behind me?" Josephine said. Her eyes
still glued to the computer screen.
"How'd you know I was there?" AJ asked, quite startled that she'd
caught him.
"Well, when you're behind me the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.
I always know when you're behind me. I just didn't say anything because I was
ignoring you."
"So are you still ignoring me?" AJ asked putting on a puppy-dog face.
"Yes." Josephine replied.
At that point, AJ felt lower than dirt. He slowly faded away as he walked
through the wall at the front of the building.
"If you need me, I'll be at Disney Land scaring little kids." He said
meekly trying to make her laugh.
She didn't budge from her position at her computer.
*~*~*~*~*
When AJ returned, he placed a pair of Mickey Mouse ears on her head. She smiled
at the fact that he had went to Disney Land, 'Or maybe he just did one of his
ghost tricks to get it.' Josephine thought. AJ didn't attempt to talk to her for
the rest of the day. She was beginning to miss him nagging her to talk to him.
But she didn't pay any mind to it. She just continued typing her thesis.
It was about 11:30pm and AJ walked into the living room to see Josephine
sleeping at the computer. Her head was rested back on the chair and her hands
had fallen into her lap from their typing position. AJ wanted to put her in her
bed, but her couldn't. He was able to touch inanimate objects of any kind, but
he couldn't touch people or animals. He watched her for a while and then got a
blanket a draped it over her. 'What I would give just to touch you.' He thought.
"Wake up baby!" Sean said nudging her.
"Sean! What are you doing here. I thought we'd broken up." Josephine
replied.
"I'm sorry baby, it's just that...well a ghost in you're house. That's a
lot to take in all at once. I say, if you say there's something in here besides
you, then there is. I trust you Joey."
"I'm glad you believe me now." Josephine said.
"Where's this ghost - person?" Sean asked. "I want to see it!
"Um, AJ could you come here for a minute?"
AJ appeared in front of Sean.
"Is something wrong?" AJ asked.
"No."
"So are you talking to me again? "
"I guess."
"Great! So what do you want."
"Well, Sean wants to see you if that's ok."
"Sure, why not!" AJ replied in a snarled voice as he made himself
visible to Sean.
"Sean, AJ! AJ, Sean! Josephine said.
"Hey! Um nice to meet you man!" Sean said extending a hand in
friendship
AJ had a sly statement on his face as he slapped Sean a low five and his hand
went right through Sean's, leaving the clear goo all over his hand.
"Yeah, nice to meet you too." AJ snickered.
"AJ be nice!" Josephine snapped.
"Can I go now!" AJ hissed.
"Ok, I'll see you later." Josephine said.
"Yeah later, when he's gone!" AJ grumbled.
*~*~*~*~*
"Bye baby!" Josephine said kissing Sean on the cheek.
"I'll see you tomorrow or so, you be careful ok!"
"Don't worry about me. AJ's here to protect me."
"Oh yeah, Casper! You be careful about him too. Tell him I didn't
appreciate that trick he played.
Josephine closed the door and sat on the couch to watch TV. AJ appeared behind
her and jumped over the back of the couch to sit next to her.
"Ding dong, the ass is gone!" AJ laughed.
"Stop it AJ!" Josephine laughed back. "But really, what do you
think of him?"
"I think you're too good for him!" AJ replied gruffly.
Josephine blushed at his comment.
"Uh, I'm gonna watch Scream 3 on pay-per-view. You may wanna get some
fourth dimensional popcorn or something." Josephine joked.
"You can laugh if you want but fourth dimensional food has no calories
whatsoever. Not like that processed crap that you eat." AJ laughed.
Josephine giggled a little and AJ stared adoringly into her eyes which were
changing color at that moment. She smiled back and the just sat there and stared
at each other for a while. Then Josephine turned away.
"What's wrong?" AJ asked
"Oh nothing, just that..."
"That..." AJ encouraged her.
"Well, that Sean must be telling all is buddies about you right now."
AJ sucked his teeth.
"You know, I don't know what you see in him. He seems like a real
jerk." AJ snapped.
"He's not, he treats me great!' Josephine replied.
"Yeah right! He probably treats you like crap and you're just too blind
to see it!"
"How dare you say that AJ!" Josephine hissed.
"It's true isn't it! You don't think I don't see those black and blue marks
on the back of your neck. He probably has three 6's in the back of his. Listen,
I know I'm not what you might have been looking for, but I know what I see. He's
no good for you."
"So who do think is good for me? You? AJ you're dead!"
"I'm sorry Joey but, that's just how I feel. Believe me, I'm not the
best at feelings, me I can't help but love you."
Josephine turned away.
"I know how you feel." She mumbled.
"What?" AJ asked.
"I know how you feel. I know what it's like to have these feelings for
you. And I can't touch you, I can't kiss you, I can't make love to you.
She turned her face so he couldn't see her tears.
"And the hardest things is, feeling how I feel for you and having a
boyfriend at the same time. I feel like I'm cheating on him, but then again I
don't really care. You know, I think I'm gonna go to bed early. I have
graduation practice tomorrow."
"Ok, well Good night!" AJ replied as he watched her walk to her room.
'That's it, I have to make her mine!' AJ screamed in his mind.
