Element Of Dark
Chapter Two

                "I need your help."

                "What?"

                "Look…." She opened her mouth to speak but I needed something explained first.

                "How come you couldn't see me?" I interrupted. She stopped, startled.

                "I..I was concentrating finding this someone that…that I guess I just wasn’t paying attention." I shivered and tightened my grip on the couch. The girl's liquid blue eyes flashed and the next thing I knew she was pulling a large quilt over me.

                "Wh…", I started to say but she stopped me.

                "I’m looking for a person, a boy to be specific. You may be able to lead me to him." I gave her a questioning look. "He needs my help and if he doesn’t get it...,"her voice trailed off. I was having trouble keeping my eyes open and they slowly began to droop shut. The girl noticed this and smiled gently. "Sleep," she placed her hand on my forehead once again and I felt the warmness again.

                "Question...," I slowly mumbled.

                "Yes?" My body shook and she pulled the blanket tighter around me.

                "Y..your name..." I slurred sleepily.

                "I haven't got one." She said it so simply as though it never occurred to her she needed one. I felt my head sink against the coushin.

                "Dream," I murmured quietly. Her name was Dream.

                                                *              *              *              *              *              *

                I was awakened by someone shaking my shoulder roughly.

                "Bri?" The voice grew louder. "Bri?"

                "Mmm. What?" I pulled the blanket over my head..

                "Bri. We've got to get ready. The show starts in half an hour." My human alarm clock rolled me over so that I was facing him. I opened one eye and found the face of Nicky staring back at me.

                "Frack?" I mumbled.

                "Kev says you weren't feeling too well so I'm sorry to have to do this but…", he paused and the next thing I knew I had cold hands on my neck," you've got to get up!"

                "You're gonna get it," I snarled. I playfully punched him and he laughed half-heartedly.

                "Yeah? From you and what army?" Then I leapt on top of him and we began to wrestle. Just when I had Nick pinned that small girl squatted beside us.

                "Hi," she said casually. I screamed and fell backwards off of Nick slamming my head against the cold, hard floor.

                "Bri, are you okay?" I couldn't answer him I was crying too hard. "Damn it Brian. Are you okay?" He and Dream had sat me up and were holding me tightly. Dream put her small hand on my forehead and the room began to glow a pale blue. Slowly, I began to calm down. Nick stared at her in horror.

                                                *              *              *              *              *              *

"What the hell did you just do?" Dream examined him carefully and a smile lit up her face.

                "You!"

                "Freak, answer me! What the hell did you just do?" His eyes darted back and forth wildly. It suddenly dawned on me. Nicky must be the boy Dream was talking about.

                "Frack," I said slowly, "it’s okay." Nick stared at her hard and long and his eyes opened wide with recognition.
