Element Of Dark
Chapter One

"Oh my God! There they are!"

                "Ahhhhhhh!"

                "I love you!"

I sighed and adjusted my microphone pack. Everyone was running around panicking, making last minute corrections. I sighed again and looked around for Nicky or Leighanne. My eyes fell on a small girl with large gentle eyes. I don't know why but I felt compelled to go over to her. There was just something about her. It was like an unseen force was controlling my feet. Fans were rushing past but I could only see the little girl ahead of me. Soon, I was right in front of her but she didn't appear to see me. It was almost as though she was staring right through me. I didn’t like the feeling and I touched her shoulder gently. I screamed as I felt my blood turn to ice. It was as cold as fire and my lungs tightened. I felt my heart stop and all at once a thousand knives stabbed at my chest. I gasped for air but found it wasn't there to gasp at. Blackness surrounded my eyes and my head fell towards the floor. As my knees gave way she turned to look at me, horrified.

"I…I'm so sorry," she stumbled. Her voice was airy, like the wind blowing through the clouds. "I..I didn't mean…Oh no." Fear filled her round eyes and in a last minute hesitation she grabbed my hand and whispered something so soft but so powerful that the room began to spin around me. I started to fall. I was fading. I couldn't feel my body anymore. I..I..

"Yo, Cuz! What are you doing?" Kevin. Slowly the room became clear and I found myself on the floor hunched tightly with my head between my knees. "You feeling ok?"

"Y..yeah." The pain was slowly fading becoming only a distant memory.

"Brian, you're shaking." He was right. My whole body was trembling uncontrollably. "You're sure you're ok?" He was unsure, I could tell. I flashed him a large smile in an attempt to comfort him. My teeth chattered as a rush of cold air passed me. The little girl. She stared at me with those clear blue eyes and I began to sob with fright. He shook his head. "That does it Bri, I want you to lie down for awhile, ok?"

He took my by the arm and gently led me to a dark room with a small couch. I was still crying. I just couldn't stop. Kevin looked at me strangely.

"Do you want me to see if I can get a doctor or something?"

                "No..no. I…I," I spluttered through shaky breaths.

"All right." He cracked the door and left me, trembling on the couch. Footsteps creaked and my body tightened. I turned over to see a pair of piercing eyes calmly staring back at me. I tried to scream but I couldn't form any sound. I just stared into those large, expressive eyes and they stared right back at me.

"Shhh," she comforted. "I'm not going to hurt you. See?" She touched my forehead gently. Her hand was warm and soft. All traces of the burning cold I had felt before had vanished. "Now calm down ok?" I nodded and took a couple deep breaths.

"I'm sorry if I scared you." She touched my cheek and I pulled back. "Don't be afraid," she pleaded.
