Sweet Kisses: Chapter 5

*The night of the concert*

"Backstreet!"
"What time is it?" Kevin yelled. It was our concert routine: a group prayer and then our Backstreet chant.
"It's time for me to go to work ya'll!"
"What kind of work?"
"Hard work, hoo!!" We were all pumped and ready to perform our first Into the Millenium US concert date.
It was almost time for us to go on. We had probably about three minutes until we had to mount our space boards. The dancers hadn't even gone out yet, so we still had a little bit of time to ourselves.
I was in the middle of giving myself a quick pep talk when I felt a slight tap on my shoulder. I turned around and stared into Lizzy's face. "Hi!"
"Hey, um, I just wanted to say, sorry for brushing you off these past couple of days at rehearsals. I just didn't know how to react to you just talking to me suddenly. You haven't said anything to me for three years, not a damn thing, and then you want to know all about me. I was wondering if maybe, after the concert or even some other time, you would want to….well, you know, if you would want to go somewhere…like…so we could talk…."
"Are you asking me out? I thought that was my job." I smiled at her nervousness. "Would you like to go out for ice cream or something after the show, Elizabeth? Maybe I can talk to you, get to know you better, tell you why I turned my attention to you so suddenly. Well, how about it?"
She smiled and nodded. "Good luck, tonight. Go make those girls scream." We were told to mount our space boards. As I was doing so, I noticed that Lizzy was still hanging around. I looked up at her questioningly.
"Well, I'll be here giving you water and towels during the breaks." She smiled, then turned and walked away. I let my eyes linger on her image for a little while, then fastened the last straps of my space board and let the crewmen do their job of hooking me up to the cable wires.
I can't wait till this show is over! Too bad it hasn't already begun!
