Sweet Kisses: Chapter 2

"Hey." Rehearsal was over and the girl from the coffee table was still hanging around, handling the towels that we used, collecting all of the empty bottles that we had thrown off the stage after the bottle had been emptied. I had approached her with an empty Evian bottle in my hand.
She took it from me, saying nothing, and continued collecting the used towels and empty bottles. She had moved quickly away from me. I jogged a few steps to get even with her again, trying my luck at being friendly once more. "How was your day?" I asked her, bending over with her when she bent to pick up another bottle.
She stood up straight, glared at me for a moment, then threw the bottle into the trash bag that she was carrying and walked on.
"Um," I was flustered. I didn't know why I kept trying to be nice to this girl when she obviously didn't want me anywhere near her. "What's your name?" No answer. "Okay, then, how old are you? Don't wanna tell me that either?" I bit my lip. "Well, how about you tell me whatever you do want to tell me."
This time she looked directly into my eyes and answered defiantly, "Why don't you try to find another girl that you can hump and dump? You won't get anywhere with me."
My mouth flew open and for a moment I was locked into place. I walked quickly to catch up with her. She was making her way towards the dumpster.
"Wait!" I was walking parallel with her. "Do you really think that that's what I'm trying to do? Find a girl that I can screw just for the hell of it?" She stopped walking.
"Why else would you be talking to me, the water girl?" She continued walking.
"Well I want to make amends for my previous behavior."
"Yeah right." She lifted the lid to the dumpster and tossed the bag in.
"I'm serious!" I didn't know what to say to her. She was so feisty! "Well, will you at least tell me your name?"
She hesitated, debating in her mind. "Elizabeth."
"That's a start!" I was relieved that she was actually talking to me, though I had no idea why that mattered so much. "So, Elizabeth, how old are you?"
"Lizzy, and I'm 19." She walked back towards where she had stacked all the towels and I followed her.
"So you started when you were 16? Why so young?"
"Because…wait, why should I tell you?" She gathered the towels in her arms. "You don't care why I started. Just go home and screw your girlfriend. At least then you'll leave me alone." A towel slipped from her arms as she walked towards a back room. I picked it up and continued following her.
"Well, my girlfriend and I really aren't talking right now. We're kind of in a fight."
"Oh, I get it!" She turned towards me, her blue eyes flashing angrily. "I'm just the rebound chick that you wanna get hooked up with, huh? You picked someone who wouldn't match up to the beauty of your girlfriend so you can prove to yourself that you really do love her. Well, hun, you're screwed cause I'm not falling for it." She walked into the room and slammed the door in my face.
I stared at the big, black, metal door, defeated. I leaned against it and sighed. Why the hell does her opinion matter so much? She's just another girl in this world. A little bitter, but she's just another girl. Go find someone else! But it suddenly hit me that I didn't want to find another girl. I wanted this one. And I wasn't gonna stop until I got her.
