Every Single Part Of Me
Story by Daisy

~~*Chapter Nine*~~

I needed a foolproof plan to lay Bethany quickly before I lost my playa edge. I couldn’t risk falling for someone when I didn’t want any one person at all. I wanted all the ladies out there in the world. And I had the perfect plan to make her sleep with me.

I would get her dead drunk. Never fails.

“Hey AJ, what are you doing tonight?” I asked him over the phone just two days after the incident on the car.

          “Nothing, why?”

“Wanna go clubbing?” I asked, praying he’d say yes.

“Sure! That’s always fun! Where, what time, and with who?”

“Tonight at seven thirty at the Roxy with me and Bethany.”

“Sure. See you then.” AJ hung up without saying good-bye. I hung up and then clicked back on, dialing Bethany’s number.

“Hello?” Her sweet voice rang in my ear.

“Bethany?” Suddenly I was a little breathless.

“Hey.” Her voice was quieter, shyer.

“Do you want to come to a club with me and AJ tonight? It’ll be fun.” I hoped she wasn’t too mad at me for what had happened.

“Alright…” she said a little hesitantly. I gave her the details, then hung up and went to get dressed. I had to look my best. Tonight is the night!

~~*Two hours and six beers later*~~

“Ha! Remember the time,” AJ started to slip and I caught him and leaned him against the bar at the club. “Hehehe, remember when…hahaha!!!” He couldn’t even finish his sentence because he was doubled over laughing. Me and Bethany laughed too, everything seemed funny right then.

“I’ve done some pretty stupid things,” Bethany chugged the last of her beer and then took my glass. I was the only sober one there. I wanted to be able to remember just how I nailed Bethany. Usually I didn’t care, but she was different…so difficult.

I hadn’t heard the last of what she had said because I was staring at her face, realizing how beautiful she really was. I don’t know how long I was staring at her, but I suddenly began to listen when I heard AJ mention my name.

“…lay any girl in three weeks.” He was saying. My eyes got wide and my heart began to pound. I shoved a glass at AJ, encouraging him to drink hoping it would shut him up. My plan failed.

“What do you mean?” Bethany asked, swaying a little.

“He has slept with any girl he chooses and he can get her in bed within three weeks of the day that they meet.” AJ began to laugh. “So when he met you…HA!” AJ covered his mouth with his hand as he began to hiccup. “I told him to test his luck on you. He’s gonna fuck you sometime soon. I know it. He’ll get you. He’s just good with the ladies like that.” He turned to me and slapped me on the back. “Right Nicky?”

I looked in Bethany’s direction just as the glass of beer slipped from her hand and crashed to the floor. She ignored the water and glass that splashed on her legs. She had suddenly sobered up and was staring at me with teary eyes. Her mouth began to move with unspoken words. She shook her head at me and began to back away slowly.

“Bethany wait!” I yelled, reaching for her. She turned and began to run. I followed her, desperately trying to pick my way through the crowded club. I kept my eye on her bouncing hair, but all too soon, that hair disappeared into the thickening crowd. I stood there, hurt that she had left and shocked that she had found out. The crowd seemed to swell around me and suddenly the music became deafening. I had to get out of there.

I walked back to the bar where I found AJ laughing to himself. I walked up behind him and slapped him hard on the back causing him to spit out the drink in his mouth. He wiped his mouth and turned to me, a goofy grin on his face.

“What the fuck did you just do, McLean?” I was furious.

“What do you mean?” He asked innocently, his face going blank.

“Why the hell did you tell Bethany I was going to lay her?!” People were beginning to stare, but I ignored them. “You made her run off! You made me lose the bet, you asshole!”

I turned and began walking out the door, realizing that I had not only lost the bet, but I had lost the best thing that had ever happened to me.
