Every Single Part Of Me
Story by Daisy
~~*Chapter Four*~~
“Thanks Heather.” I hung up the phone and then clicked it back on. I had just gotten Bethany’s phone number from her.
“Hello?” Her quiet voice answered.
“Bethany?” I asked. “This is Nick. Hey I was wondering if you
wanted to go out on my boat with me today.” I asked her.
“Umm…”
“It’ll be lots of fun.”
“Okay.” She said finally.
“Is thirty minutes enough time for you to get ready?”
“Yeah.” She said good-bye and I headed to the shower.
I picked her up thirty minutes later and stared as she stepped out of her
house wearing another skimpy bathing suit top, this one different than the first
one I had seen. Same triangles, only smaller. Her white shorts were a little
longer than I would have preferred, but hey, it’s her choice of clothing. I
drove us to the dock and helped her out of the car. She wasn’t wearing the
ankle brace anymore.
“It’s gorgeous.” She breathed as she stepped onto my boat. She
wandered around and picked a spot to sit as I drove us away from the dock. As we
got further to sea, Bethany slid off of the bench she was sitting on and
carefully laid down on the floor, her hands supporting her head. I shut off the
engine and let us float in the middle of the ocean. I took off my shirt which
was now wet with sweat. I walked over to where she was laying and sat down
beside her.
“Whatcha lookin’ at?” I asked her, staring at her beautiful face
that was lighted by the sun.
“The clouds. See how they’re making shapes?” I laid down beside her
so I could see better.
“Hey, I see a bunny!” I cried, pointing into the massive sky above
us. She laughed, the loudest sound I had ever heard coming from her. It somewhat
surprised me, but I liked the sound of her laughing.
“See the dragon?” She asked, pointing upward at another cloud. I
searched and searched but found no dragon.
“I see a duck, but I don’t see a dragon.”
“There!” She pointed again. “See it?”
I reached up and opened her hand up with my fingers. I let our fingers
intertwine and I brought our hands back down, resting them on my stomach.
Suddenly, she got very quiet again. I knew now that she had nowhere to escape
to. She couldn’t just say, “excuse me” and jump into the ocean. She would
have to stay with me. And I liked it.
I pulled her closer to me, rolling her on her side. She slid over next to
me and laid her hand on my stomach. Her head was resting on my chest. I wrapped
my arm around her and slid my finger through her belt loop. I slid my hand
across the one of hers that was lying softly on my stomach. I reached up and
began to run my fingers through her ponytail, batting at it playfully.
“Nick?” She asked, her voice no longer a whisper.
“Hmmm?”
“Why are you so…forward?” She asked me, searching for the last
word.
“Why are you so quiet?”
“How come you seem to be so into me and we’ve only just met?” I
didn’t answer her and she sat up, her tan back to me. I remembered how soft
her back had felt while we were dancing.
“Bethany, look at me.” She turned slightly and stared at me. I
couldn’t see her expression because the sun silhouetted her face. “Bethany,
I love you from the first day I saw you at the park when I ran into you.
You’re so gorgeous. You’re so quiet and that intrigues me. I want to find
out all about you. I want to know everything about you.” Yeah, every single
curve of your body…
“Really?” She asked. I reached up to her and put my hand on the back
of her neck, pulling her towards me. I leaned up just a bit so that our lips
touched, but just barely.
I had never felt so tingly in all my life. No other kiss had made me feel
that way. But then, our lips had touched so lightly that it was as if they
hadn’t touched at all.
I could feel her breath coming in quickly on my lips. Her sweet breath
mixed with mine and I longed to feel her lips again. I slid my other hand over
her soft cheek and into her hair just behind her ear. I gently pulled her face
towards mine, making our lips meet again.
And for the first time in my life, I was afraid of kissing someone. I
thought that if I kissed her like I truly wanted to, she’d go hide in the
cabin below or something. I pushed away the fear and began kissing her
fervently, savoring the taste of her lips.
And for a moment, while kissing Bethany, I wondered if I truly wanted to
go through with the bet or test out love…
