Chapter 11: Don't Want You Back

I crept through the halls, trying not wake anyone up. I was pissed off that I hadn't killed him. But then I had really enjoyed watching him squirm in pain.
I let out a loud laugh before I clamped my hand over my mouth to quiet myself down. At night, I kept myself awake thinking about AJ lying there in the road, crying out in pain. He actually thought that someone would hear him and help him! That was the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard of!
I had reached the room that the nurse had told me that AJ was in. I hesitated in the doorway, watching him sleep peacefully. I smiled. He had no idea what was coming!
"Hey, buddy!" I whispered into the still silence. I shut the door behind me. "How's everything? I hope you like the mess that I put you in. Sorry I had to do it, but I just hated you so much." I reached the bed. I sat down in the chair next to him. "But, I didn't finish my work. I didn't kill you, which is too bad." I started laughing. "You should have seen yourself when you were laying there in the road! You looked hilarious, writhing in pain!" I looked around, making sure that I hadn't laughed too loud. I didn't want some dumb nurse coming in and ruining my work.
"Well," I stood up. "All I have to find is the plug to the little thing that's giving you oxygen and then I'll be done." I reached for the heart-monitor plug. "I'll turn this off so no doctors come running to try and save you. I will not fail twice, you know." I pulled the plug. "Now, where is the other plug?"
I looked at all the different machines. There were so many wires and so many plugs! I had never been too good at technical stuff. I decided to start at the source. There were tubes in AJ's nostrils that were feeding him with oxygen. I'd start there. I followed the tubes to a machine. I followed the machine cord until I found the plug.
"Ha! Got it!" I put one hand over the plug. "Sorry, buddy, but I think that's it's time for you to go. See ya later!"
"Let it go!" A voice behind me made me jump and drop the plug. I scrambled around for the plug. I would not let anything stop me from killing AJ! Nothing!
