~~*Chapter Five*~~

At 10.00 AM, Morgan, Cilia and Bob were at the hotel.

-         Do you realize that the Backstreet Boys themselves asked us to come today ?

-         Yes, I do.

-         And ? Don’t tell me it’s all it means to you !

Morgan shook her head and grinned.

-         Of course I won’t tell you that ! I’m very happy and you know it,    right ?

-         Damn right, said Cilia.

And it was true. There was no need to pronounce words, they both perfectly knew what was in each other’s mind. They have been best friends for  six years, it wasn’t a little thing.

-         Morning, girls ! It’s really nice to see you again ! screamed AJ from the stairs.

-         Oh yeah, chuckled Brian. Thank God you’re so early ! For the first time of his life, Nick is going to act like humans before midday !

Nick smacked him on his head.

-         Shut up or I will kick your lazy ass !

B-Rok kept laughing and added, looking at Cilia :

-         As you can see, he loves being his best in front of beautiful women !

Cilia turned her head away, slightly embarrassed, and Kevin sighed with relief. His cousin seemed a lot better, he was even joking again.

Praise the Lord, he thought. His gaze came to rest  on Morgan. He was certain that she had something to do with that. “ She’s different… “ These words recurred to him. He was right, but not absolutely. Actually, she was different from them, not from Brian. The same resigned melancholy could be read on both faces. Maybe that they were meant to be friends ?

-         What do you feel like doing today ? asked AJ. We’ve got our day off so just tell us what’s cool in here and we’ll go !

-         Well…

Cilia was hesitant.

But Morgan knew what was in her mind, and she also knew why her friend didn’t dare to say it. So she spoke for her?

-         There is a big fair right now in town in New Orleans, with huge roller coaster and stuff.

-         Great ! exclaimed Nick. Sounds like fun !

-         I’m quite prepared to join in, added Howie D.

-         You bet that I’m ready ! yelled AJ, clapping.

Kevin didn’t say anything. He was waiting for Brian’s answer. Morgan grinned.

-         Cilia is the biggest fun-loving girl of the town, you’re going to have a blast, really.

Nick looked at her.

-         You’re not coming with us ?

-         No, I’m not. I think I will stay here while you’re gone.

-         I’m staying too, said suddenly B-Rok.

He smiled.

-         I’m always sick on roller coaster.

AJ turned to Kev.

-         And you ?

Brian didn’t let to his cousin a chance of replying.

-         He’s going. I know he wants to eat those delicious doughnuts you can only find at fairs. Don’t you, Train ?

-         I do.

I was obvious that Brian wouldn’t take no for an answer. He wanted to be alone with Morgan, and Kevin sent him a glance saying he understood and that it was ok. Brian thanked him using the same way.

But there was still some indecision in Cilia’s green eyes.

-         Are you sure, Morgan ?

Her friend nodded.

-         More than sure, I swear it to you.

Cilia was relieved. She hugged Morgan and pot on her coat.

-         So let’s go guys !

They quickly went out of the hotel, laughing and joking, followed by four bodyguards.

Brian, Morgan were now alone in the hall. They stayed silent for a while, then Brian spoke.

-         I’m sick on roller coaster but we can do something else. Do you want to go to movies ? After we could go to a nice restaurant together. What do you think of that program ?

-         I’m really sorry, I can’t do that.

-         Why ? We could let the restaurant idea fall if you’re not hungry.

-         I’m sorry, I…

-         Or we can go to the theatre instead of movies or…

Morgan burst out laughing.

-         What’s so funny ?

-         Your insistence on absolutely wanting me to do something with you. Sick on roller coaster, huh ?

Brian smiled.

-         It’s true, I can’t stand roller coaster, believe me. But it’s true too that it was an easy excuse to stay. I’d like to know you better, I’m convinced that we could really be friends.

His voice lowered and started to shake slightly.

-         Do you want me to leave you alone ? Am I bothering you ?

-         Oh no, don’t think that !

He was sitting next to her and she leaned over. She put her left hand on Brian’s arm and smiled gently to him.

-         You are a wonderful young man, I adore your songs and I think that you are very friendly, funny, sweet, kind, smart and everything. Since I met you, I really like you as a person, not only as a cd cover picture. I’m very happy to be here with you and I’d love to go to movies or to the restaurant with you.

-         But ? asked Brian with a faint voice.

-         But I can’t. It’s not possible, I’m sorry.

-         Why ? Just tell me why, please. I need to know.

She felt all the sadness hidden inside of his heart into his last words. He was thinking that she didn’t want to be his friend. He was hurting because he was afraid of her answer. He was sure she was going to push him away.

-         Why ?

She couldn’t help  but smile.

-         But because I am blind.
