1941 ~ 1942
Seven units of UNRYU class were planned.

Completed and assigned CarDiv 1, 3rd Fleet.

Underwent trials throughout the month

19 December 1944
Hit by a single torpedo from submarine USS Redfish off Shanghai while transporting "Okha" suicide bombers to Manila. She went dead in water but the engineerings were able to restore power in one of the boilers. But then she was hit again by another torpedo igniting the cargo and av-gas tank. She exploded and sank quickly.
