1941 ~ 1942
Seven units of UNRYU class were planned.

August 1944

Completed and assigned CarDiv 1, 3rd Fleet. Became the flagship of Vice Admiral Ozawa's Mobile Fleet.

September ~ December 1944
Operating in Inland Sea.

February 1945

Joined by Katsuragi.

March 1945
Hit by one bomb on the flight deck by American air attack raid at Kure.

April 1945
Assigned as "special duty" reserve ship.

May 1945

Camouflaged the deck and also by foliage nets, in order to make the ship viewed as part of the shore.

July 1945
Hit by two bombs during a raid by TF 38 carrier planes. Boiler rooms were flooded.

Hit by about two to four bomb hits by another TF 38 raid. And the ship was listed by further flooding and at that night she listed and grounded in shallow water.

November 1945
Scrapped from the Navy List.
