Man: (sobbing) I can’t bear it if any happens to her. I already lost my best friend because of my stupidity. I couldn’t lose Quin also because of my carelessness.
Chi San: Man, it’s not your fault, ok?
Man: I’m scared, Chi San. I’m so scared. What if I never see Quin again? I couldn’t go through the pain again.
Chi San: (stroking Man’s hair) Shh…shh…Quin will be all right, I promise.
Korean: San Gor! (stopped short when he saw Man and Chi San locked together) Err…am I interrupting something?
Chi San: (businesslike tone) Gigi, what have you got?
Gigi: John Wang was a highly successful businessman in Canada, handling electronics. He had his own company, Wang & Co. Electronics. According to the information I got, he was a self-made man. He was also the vice-chairman of Canada Business Centre of Electronics.
Chi San: (half to himself) Had? Was? Why past tense?
Gigi: (tensely) He sold off his company a month ago, and resigned his position as vice-chairman. Then he simply disappeared. That is all I know.
Chi San: (nodded) Got it. Hoi?
Hoi: I found these two hairbrushes. (held up to hairbrushes) The hairs in these hairbrushes should belong to Miss Mo and Man. And here’s another type of hair. (held up an evidence bag) It’s found in Miss Mo’s room, but a different colour from Miss Mo’s hair and Man’s hair.
Chi San: Get a copy of John Wang’s medical records from Canada and get it into the laboratory for DNA testing. Tell them it’s URGENT. I want immediate results. Korean?
Korean: (looked grim) Mine wasn’t good news, San Gor. John Wang Kei-Chung, real name Johnny Wang Guan-Ho had been to prison at the age of 20, for the charges of kidnapping.
Everyone: WHAT?!?!
Korean: He was convicted of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend, who dumped him for another guy. He even threatened to kill her, but Canadian police was able to rescue to the girl. He was sentenced 10 years, but was let out only 5 years later because of good conduct. He left the prison at the age of 25. From there, he changed his name and built up his business empire.
Gigi: Wait a minute. If he changed his name, how can you be so sure he’s the same guy?
Korean: (held up two pictures) By identifying this one that Fei Gor got from the Canadian Business Bureau homepage, and the one Canadian Police Force e-mailed me. And I also checked his social-security number.
Gigi: I bet Miss Mo didn’t know about his past. She wouldn’t have gotten mixed up with him if she knew.
Fei: (visibly trembling) San Gor! You wouldn’t believe what I found out. He was served time for kidnapping!
Chi San: (quietly) I know. Korean told me.
Fei: (shaken) My God…what will he do to Kwan?
Hoi: (rushed in) San Gor, the hair! It’s been confirmed it belonged to John Wang.
Chi San: Listen team, this man is officially a suspect. I want all of you and everyone of you be on call 24 hours a day. Understand?
Everyone: Yes, Sir!
The next morning…
Fei: (snapped) Leave me alone! I have to do this!
Chi San: Fei…
Fei: (dropping his head in his hands) I know. I’m sorry. I just feel so helpless…
Chi San: I know how you feel, Fei. But you have to be strong. For Quin’s sake.
Fei: What can I do, but just sit here? I cannot do anything!
Voice: I want to speak to the great Tsui Sir.
Chi San: John Wang.
Voice: (surprised) You managed to track me down? Well, well, well. Hong Kong Police isn’t as weak and stupid as I thought. It doesn’t matter you know who I am. Get off the line, Captain America. I want to speak to Tsui Fei.
Chi San: Stall him.
Fei: Where is Kwan?
John: Quin is right here and very happy, too. (sinister chuckle) I meant what I said, Tsui Fei. Quin belongs me ME, and me only. We are meant to be together. If she doesn’t love me, if she doesn't want to be with me, she won’t be able to love you, either. You get what I mean?
Fei: (yelling) Don’t you dare touch Kwan!!
John: (amused tone) A little too late for that, huh? I will be together with Quin for an eternity. And you? Hahahahaha….
Fei: Hello?!?! Hello?!?! (tersely) He hung up.
Chi San: We got him. He’s in the outskirts of town. Farmland of New Terrority.
Chi San: Let’s go, team. This operation cannot fail. (his eyes landed on Fei) Fei, keep to me.
John: So, Quin, curious to know about my plans?
John: Your stupid boyfriend is probably going mad now. And I am much prepared for his arrival. I just lured him here. I knew they would track me down…
Quin: What are you going to do? Don’t hurt Fei!
John: (leaned towards Quin) I am not going to worry about killing that idiot Tsui Fei. I am going to kill you…in front of him.
Quin: (terrified) No…please…
John: (Dreamily) But you won’t be lonely, Quin. I’ll die with you. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?
Quin: …
John: (casually) Yes, I’ll kill myself. Confused? It’s simple, really. You die, I die, and we’ll be together forever. Tsui Fei…well…(burst of anger) You don’t love me, huh? You love that piece of scum? Well, you won’t be together with him…you belong to me! If I can’t have you, no one can. No one!
Quin: John…no…let me go…you need help…you need serious help…
John: Don’t you start on the physcological babble. I am perfectly sane. (voice softened) I love you, you know that, don’t you, Quin? So much, I am willing to die for you.
Quin: (quietly) Don’t you dare touch me. You have no right.
John: Soon, my dear. We’ll be together forever.
Quin: (in a whisper) You’re crazy.
John: Just crazy for you, Quin.
The team reached the deserted farmhouse. Fei immediately pat his gun holster and walked determinedly towards the farmhouse.
Chi San: Fei, come back. None of you are permitted to do anything without my orders.
Fei: San Gor…
Fei: (his heart skipped a beat) Kwan!
Quin: (saw Fei) Fei!
John: (sneering) Aw…isn’t that sweet…reunion. A pity it cannot last…
Fei: No!
Chi San: John Wang Kei-Chung, I am Inspector Kong Chi San.
John: (yawned) Spare me the introduction.
Chi San: You are surrounded. You better give up.
John: Give up? Not in this lifetime…Tsui Fei, how does it feel? Your love here is going to die…
Chi San: Hurt the hostage, and you will never leave here alive, John Wang. Surrender now.
John: Whoops, I forgot to tell you my plan, huh? Yes, I am going to kill Quin here.
Fei: No! Don’t hurt her!
John: (ignoring Fei) I’m not going to leave here alive. I am going to join Quin, in the heavens. We will be together forever. Hahahaha…(laughing crazily)
Hoi: (whispering to Gigi) He’s crazy.
Gigi: He’s worse than crazy. He’s an insane, raving lunatic.
Korean: (yelling at John)Heavens? Better pack your bags for hell!
Chi San: (whispering) Korean, Hoi, try to sneak up behind John. See if you can get Quin away from him.
Korean: We’ll give it our best shot.
Guns trained at John, Hoi and Korean slowly retreated and disppeared into the long grass. Chi San prayed that John didn’t see them.
In Chi San’s office at the station…
Chi San: Man, don’t worry. Quin will be fine.
(Without thinking, Man wrapped her arms around Chi San. Heat travelled up Chi San’s body and he quickly enveloped Man in his arms.)
(Korean and the team, with the exception of Fei, bursted in, waving a sheaf of papers.)
(Blushing, Chi San and Man pulled apart. Man hurried away, muttering something about making tea. Chi San forced his attention to the case.)
(Just then, Fei ran in with a sheaf of papers.)
Chi San: Fei, go home and rest. I’ll take over your work here.
(Suddenly, the phone rang. Chi San immediately picked it up.)
(Chi San immediately tensed up. He gestured to Fei to set up the tracking device on the telephone. Korean and the others came running in. Working quickly, they helped Fei.)
(Chi San looked over at Fei. He gave a thumbs-up, indicating the equipment was set up. Wordlessly, Chi San handed the phone to Fei and put on the headphones.)
(Fei nodded and took the phone. His hands were shaking.)
(The phone went dead.)
(Chi San immediately grabbed his gun and his identity badge. The others did the same.)
(Quin lay in a corner, refusing to look at him.)
(Quin looked up. Panic shot through her. No, he cannot hurt Fei…)
(He touched Quin’s cheek. Quin shuddered with revulsion.)
(John looked furious, and he raised his hand as if to strike Quin. Then he lowered his hand and smiled crazily.)
(Chi San looked at Fei sternly, his expression unrelenting. It’s for your own good, Fei. Reluctantly, Fei stepped back. Suddenly, the farmhouse’s door banged opened. A man they recognised as John Wang emerged. With him, was a terrified and dirty Quin.)
(John whipped out a gun and pointed it at Quin’s head.)
(Chi San immediately stepped forward.)
(Before a stricken Fei could say anything, Chi San intervened.)
(Quin shook her head with terror, unable to say anything.)
