Oda Yuji's made his debut in 1987. Perhaps as he withdrew from college, he was typecasted as school dropout in most of his early movies and dramas.
He first major break came when he agreed to play the role of Nagao Kanchi in the romance classic TV drama -- "Tokyo Love Story".

Other than acting, Yuji also pursues a career as a singer (singing many of the themes songs of the shows and movies that he starred in). Furthermore, he appeared in many CMs, memorably switching from DoCoMo to their rivals, IDO, in early 1999.
In 1997, he made another huge leap in his career with the Fuji drama Odoru Daisosasen (Rhythm and Police). It was such a hit that several specials and TWO movies were made. There is talk of animation too.
Personally, I find him a good actor, but his singing is a little....

I also read that he is not co-operative and thinks highly of himself (like Akina). Nonetheless, I still like his image as a carefree and optimistic man. I love his smile. It's so child-like (mujaki).
