The R&D unit aims to create research ambience by the promoting research in engineering sciences and innovations in established and newer technologies and to generate degree candidates to augment the supply of research experience faculty and research personnel in the country. R&D activities are considered as an essential component of higher education because of their in creating new knowledge and insight and imparting excitement and dynamism to the educational process, as well as make them need based in view of the national requirements.

The most exciting feature of MUST is the fundamental research on current technologies of various fields. The topics are selected by MUST or by the researchers. The relevant work is produced, and the thesis is submitted to the unit. The R&D team studies, invents and improves leading-edge technology tools and engineering techniques and applies its intellectual property to world wide projects of MUST.
