Background
A Brief History
It was 1993, when Mr. Joy Mustafi planned to create something new for the future world. Then he was a secondary student of Scottish Church Collegiate School. Entrepreneurship is the best career and most challenging opportunity he thought. When he was in the higher secondary class and studied at Scottish Church College, his elder sister Kakali Gupta (Mustafy) named the future organization MUST. It is the initial four letters of their surname "Mustafi" and ofcourse needless to say the dictionary meaning of MUST. Mr. Joy Mustafi was too young to build up an organization in the year 1995. But he never thought "it is impossible". He had positive willpower and sincere perseverance.
After completion of his graduation in Statistics from Ramakrishna Mission Residential College - Narendrapur, he joined RCC Institute of Information Technology to study the course of MCA (Master of Computer Application). At Ramakrishna Mission he developed statistical and numerical analysis tools in BASIC language in the computer laboratory when he had no computer course in his regular syllabi. Then he got involved gradually in computer programming and advanced computing at his early student life. Later he joined these two institutes as lecturer in the Dept. of Computer Science and Application in the year 2002 and 2004 respectively. When the planning of MUST was going on, he joined Indian Statistical Institute as a project trainee for advancement of knowledge. He got Junior Research Fellow Award from Indian Statistical Institute (Govt. of India) in the year 2004.
In these three years Mr. Mustafi involved with many projects and got a fabulous popularity in the students' world as a young faculty. "Students are the future of nation" - he believed it, and so the first meeting of MUST was organized with few of his students and friends on 13th July 2003. A science revolution occurred, and thus MUST was formed. The slogan was everywhere - " it's a must".
