James Powell is a guitar wielding samurai warrior. His main influences George Lynch, Steve Vai, and Ty Tabor have given him the drive for killer tone and lead guitar prowness. Lead guitar is an important part, but songwriting and sonic diversity are his focus. "In this band, I value the different types of sound that we can come up with these days. I'm fortunate that my brother Jon and I can collaborate well and come up with different material." James' main instrument is his seven-string Ibanez Universe (the green one). He also uses an Ibanez RG series seven-string, an Ibanez Artwood seven-string acoustic along with several non seven-string guitars for different tunings and sonic variety. James' guitar rig is specially designed to reproduce the many tones and effects used in the studio.
