His most famous piece of work is called 'Spiral Jetty' (1970), but he has made more brilliant works, like 'Nonsite Essen soil and mirrors' (1969). Smithson is one of the few artists that combine a talent for writing and (plastic) arts (In Holland we have Armando). Edited by Jack Flamm (University of CaliforniaPress ). Despite the fact that I've read loads of books, I only admire a few writers. They either wrote an oeuvre that I think is brilliant, or wrote that one book that really hit me to the floor. |
