Community leader returns state honours Lim Van Kay has announced his decision to return all three Selangor state honours bestowed upon him by the late Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah between 1979 and 1999. “I have written letters informing the Selangor Sultan, and Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo, of my decision. “I have given my reasons for returning the honours but I will not reveal what they are,” he told a press conference yesterday. Lim received the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK) in 1979, Ahli Mahkota Selangor (AMS) in 1995 and the Darjah Kebesaran Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (DSSA), which carried the title Datuk, in 1999. Lim, 65, is known among the Chinese community in Kuala Langat for his contributions to politics, his work with associations, and his efforts to raise funds for temples, besides promoting education. 60 Receive Awards, Medals From Selangor Sultan The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, conferred awards and medals to 60 people at the Throne Room of Istana Alam Shah here on the occasion of his 57th birthday. Datin Seri Endon Mahmood, the wife of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, topped the list of recipients. She was bestowed the Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor (SPMS) award, which carries the "Datuk Seri" title. Public Services Department Director-General Tan Sri Jamaluddin Ahmad Damanhuri also received the same award. The Sultan's granduncle, Tengku Arif Temenggong Selangor, Tengku Muhamad Yusof Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Alaeddin Sulaiman Shah and his younger sister Tengku Puan Panglima Perlis Tengku Puteri Norzehan Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah received the Datuk Setia Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (SSIS) award, which carries the "Datuk" title. bernama.com.my Dec 02
King heads honours list Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin will be conferred the Darjah Kerabat Yang Amat Dihormati Kelas Pertama (DK I). The other recipient of the award is the Sultan's mother, Paduka Bonda Raja Selangor Raja Saidatul Ihsan.Public Services Department director-general Tan Sri Jamaluddin Ahmad Damanhuri and Datin Seri Endon Mahmood, wife of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, will receive the Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor (SPMS) award, which carries the Datuk Seri title. The Sultan's uncle and sister, Tengku Mohamad Yusof Shah and Tengku Puteri Nor Zehan, will get the Dato' Setia Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah title. This year's ceremony will also see two new awards — Setia Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (SIS) and Ahli Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (AIS) — being given out. Thirty people will receive the SIS. Among them are Berita Harian assistant editor (special projects) Hafifi Hafidz, Shah Alam police chief ACP Hussin Ismail, Klang police chief ACP A. Paramasivam, Sepang police chief Supt Mohd Shukri Dahlan, Kuala Langat district officer Rozali Ahmad and Klang district officer Ahmad Shafii Saidin. Munusamy, Sin Chew Jit Poh Klang bureau chief Lim Poh Guan and Utusan Malaysia reporter Mohamad Radzuan Hasan. Nineteen people have been conferred the Dato' Paduka Mahkota Selangor (DPMS) and another 20 will receive the Datuk Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (DSIS) awards. Both awards carry the ‘Datuk' title. Sungai Renggam State Assemblyman Ahmad Nawawi Datuk Mohd Zin, Selangor Syariah Court chief judge Johdi Toha, National Union of Plantation Workers secretary-general G. Sankaran, Transport Ministry parliamentary secretary Donald Lim Siang Chai, Universiti Teknologi Mara Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Ibrahim Abu Shah and Malaysian Ambassador to Cuba Datuk Mohammad Kamal Yan Yahaya are among the DPMS award recipients. Others include Dr Abdul Samad Mohamed @ Mohd Dom, Dr Anwar Mohd Ridhuan, Dr Karim Mansor, Dr Mohamed Suleiman, Dr Robaayah Zambahari, Prof Madya Dr Idris Abdol, Md Kamal Ismaun, Ong Beng Seng, Prof Dr Ishak Abdul Razak and Laksamana Datuk Mohd Ramli Abu Bakar. Subang Jaya Municipal Council president Ahmad Fuad Ismail, Selangor MIC treasurer S. Doriasamy, Selangor deputy police chief Datuk Mohd Fauzi Saari, Gombak district officer Ishak Ahmad and State Drainage and Irrigation department director Abd Rahim Kaparawi are among those receiving the DSIS. Others receiving DSIS are Datuk Ibrahim Hussein, Azmi Mat Nor, Choong Tow Chong, Dahri @ Abdul Latif Ibrahim, Datuk Ramli Ismail, Dr Abdul Munit Kasmin, Che Mohamad Che Jusoh, Mohd Talha Abdul Rahman, Ikhwan Salim Datuk Sujak, Mat Yasir Ikhsan, Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden, Prof Madya Mohammad Sharif Mustapha, SAC I Salamuddin Falizan, Shamsuddin Haryoni and Sulaiman Mohd Yusof. Twenty-eight people will receive the Setia Mahkota Selangor award with State Anti-Corruption Agency director Azni Hamzah, Ampang Jaya Municipal Council president Ahmad Kabit and Sungai Tua Assemblyman V. Jagarasah leading the list. Fifty people will receive the Ahli Mahkota Selangor (AMS) and among them is principal assistant district officer Abdul Ghani Salleh. 110 To Receive Selangor State Honours A total of 110 people have been conferred awards and medals by Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor for his 60th birthday celebration. State Secretary Datuk Ramlan Othman said there would be only one recipient of the Darjah Kerabat award and two for the Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor. The Datuk Setia Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah award would be conferred on three people. Fourteen people will receive the Datuk Paduka Mahkota Selangor award and 18 others the Datuk Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. In addition, 14 people would receive the Setia Mahkota Selangor Setia Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah awards.
