Royalty and CJ head Kedah honours list The Sultan of Kedah’s younger brother and the Chief Justice will head the honours list of the Kedah Ruler’s 76th birthday. Tunku Datuk Abdul Hamid Thani ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah and Tan Sri Ahmad Fairuz Datuk Sheikh Abdul Halim will receive the Darjah Seri Setia di-Raja Kedah (SSDK) award which carries the title “Datuk Seri.” State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Haji Badruddin Amiruldin is the only recipient of the Datuk Paduka Seri Setia Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah (DHMS) title, carrying the title “Datuk Paduka.” Four will receive the Darjah Kebesaran Gemilang Seri Mahkota Kedah Yang Amat Di-Hormati (DGMK) which carries the title “Datuk Wira.” They are army chief Jen Datuk Pahlawan Mohd Azumi Mohamad, Datuk Seri Zainol Ariff Haji Hussain of the Prime Minister’s Department, state Public Services Commission chairman Datuk Haji Mohd Zain Osman and Malaysian Mining Corporation Bhd chairman Datuk Syed Abdul Jabbar Syed Hassan. Forty-five others will be conferred Datuk Setia di-Raja Kedah (DSDK) which carries the title “Datuk.” Among them are Kedah Legal Advisor Aziah Ali, Kedah Islamic Affairs Department chief Syeikh Kasim Saad, Deputy State Legislative Assembly Speaker Haji Mohd Hadzir Ismail and Kedah police chief Datuk Mohamed Supian Haji Amat. Three Kedah civil service officers who are also made Datuks are Langkawi district officer Haji Rasli Bassir, Baling district officer Haji Abdul Wahab Bakar and Sungai Petani Municipal Council president Haji Abdul Rahman Ahmad. The Sultan’s aide-de-camp Lt-Kol Tunku Aziz Bendahara Tunku Nong Jiwa, lawyer Tan Seng Jin and Kedah PPP chairman Nadarajan Veraya will also receive the DSDK award. thestar.com.my 18 Jan 04 |

Sultanate of Kedah This medal, dated 1983, is believed to be either the Coronation Medal of the new Sultan, or the Silver Jubilee Medal of the Sultan which came to power in 1958. If anyone can read the the script on this medal and advise me, this would be much appreciated. Emmanuel Halleux |
Kedah MB, IGP to head honours list Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Syed Razak Syed Zain and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Bakri Omar will lead the honours lists at the Sultan of Kedah's birthday celebrations. Syed Razak will be the first recipient of Darjah Utama Seri Mahawangsa Yang Amat Dihormati (DMK) which carries the title Datuk Seri Utama. Mohd Bakri will be the sole recipient of the Datuk Paduka Seri Setia Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah (DHMS) award which carries the title Datuk Paduka. Seven people will receive the Darjah Gemilang Seri Mahkota Kedah (DGMK), which carries the title Datuk Wira. They are the Army chief Jeneral Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Zainal, State Exco member and Jitra State Assemblyman Datuk Dr Othman Ishak, State Secretary Datuk Syed Unan Mashri Syed Abdullah, State Financial officer Datuk Hassan Taib, Malaysian Open University's vice president Professor Datuk Dr Md Noor Salleh, former State Financial officer Datuk Noraman Raffii and former State Economic Planning Unit director Datuk Mohd Farouk Che Ibrahim.
