As She lies Sleeping

I sit alone in the darkness of this room,

With only the sound of someone's soft

And gentle breathing.

I watch as she slowly rolls to her side.

There is a trace of a smile that touches her lips

A strand of her auburn hair falls low across her forehead.

I reach out to brush the strand of hair away from her face,

As my lips touch hers, ever so softly. I look out the window

At the stars that hang there, and from the innermost part

Of my being, in silence I thank God for sending you to me

By the light from the neon sign

That flashes outside our window.

I can see the gentle rise and fall

Of her Breast

.

I lay down beside her ever so slowly.

I must not wake this vision; this wonder

That I have waited for, what must have been a lifetime.

Some men never find what I have in just 48 short years.

As my eyes close, I thank him once again

I never want this night to end, and if I am only dreaming,

Then please let me dream, the dream that only lovers can share.

As I lay here next to her my love as she lies sleeping.
